It is midnight, I am completely exhausted and the universe decides to play a joke on me.

I finally drag myself off the couch, hook up the leash and head downstairs for the dog’s absolute last, quick five-minute pee before bed.

We step outside into what was a perfectly calm, dry night, but the exact millisecond his paws hit the grass, the sky completely fractures and it starts pissing down.

So now I’m standing there in my thongs, getting drenched in a torrential downpour, while this dog suddenly decides he needs to sniff every individual blade of grass to find the perfect spot.

Leaving me questioning why I didn't just buy a cat while my soul slowly evaporates into the midnight rain.

Just one of those nights.

Dane.
