History of a narrow gauge railway
Upper Silesian Narrow-Gauge Railways were officially established in 1853 and were then 34 km long. In 1856, the length of the queue line increased to 75 km. In 1884, GKW became the property of the state based in Bytom. At the beginning of the 20th century, the length of the line was over 130 km, and passenger transport took place on the section: Gliwice - Trynek - Rudy - Markowice - Racibórz.

It was not until 1990 that tourist transports were introduced on the Bytom-Tarnowskie Góry - Miasteczko Śląskie section, and on the remaining sections passenger transport was introduced. In the summer season, there is also a park railway with a track gauge of 900 mm in the Silesian Park (Provincial Park of Culture and Recreation) in Chorzów.

Upper Silesian Narrow Gauge Railways is the only railway in Poland with a clearance of 785 mm - the oldest continuously operating narrow-gauge railway in the world, which invariably is a great attraction for children, with open wagons.
