A few days ago—I think it’s been about 20 days since I suffered a minor injury to my hand, arm, and part of my right cheek—I developed an infection in several areas where some thorns had remained embedded in my skin.
Later, I developed an abscess on my face below my ear, and for some reason, these thorns from the palm tree in front of my house—which I had to cut down because of electrical problems where some wires had fallen—were part of the issue. I hadn’t mentioned this before because there were so many people trying to help me repair the roof; I couldn’t just keep adding to the problems I already face in my day-to-day life.
The problem is that this infection got worse—the blister under my ear was growing larger and filling with pus—so I had to make the decision to make an incision on my own.
Using only alcohol and a scalpel, I cut into the lump under my ear a little to drain a disgusting, yellowish fluid that, honestly, smelled pretty foul.
To everyone reading this post, I want to say: please don’t try this kind of thing at home—I only do it as a last resort and in an emergency.
I haven’t been able to take the time to sit down and write decent posts, but I’m still here, sharing my day-to-day life and keeping you updated on how I’m doing.
