Heavy words, but this post won’t be subtle at all.
Good morning, and happy Saturday, July 25! A big hello to everyone who’s part of the broader blockchain community—and specifically to those who are part of this wonderful “Catarsis” community. Today I want to ask questions, talk, and share my thoughts on this topic because routines and bad habits go hand in hand—yet they aren’t the same thing.
My morning routine for the past decade has been to wake up and head straight to the kitchen to put a pot of water on the stove so it starts heating up while I shower, brush my teeth, wash my face, and make my bed—and then make coffee.
This is a routine. At the time, this routine saved me time before going to college or before going to work, but over the years, it has become a habit—because when I don’t drink coffee in the morning, I feel as if I haven’t woken up yet. And that’s how, little by little, many routines turn into habits when they become indispensable in our daily lives.
And speaking of habits—that’s where I struggle with substances.
We know very well that coffee has natural health benefits and is good for the body; however, we also know it has its downsides, since there are people who consider themselves addicted to coffee. Personally, I must have high levels of caffeine in my system, along with sugar, and that’s why I feel like this has gone beyond just a routine and turned into a habit.
Another routine that’s very beneficial is the “blockchain routine”—a healthy habit where, upon waking, I try to make the most of the few hours of “light” we have each day. When I say “light,” I mean electricity, which allows me to use the internet connection to post my content.
Lately, Venezuela has been suffering from a lot of supposedly “natural” weather-related disruptions, which have affected communication, food transportation, and medicine distribution a bit more. I hope this will be the year I can leave here; I hope this will be the year I can travel to another country; and above all, I hope I can get my life back on track.
