It belonged to a backgammon game (that's a board game).
Backgammon was previously played by many important people.
The estimated age is 5,000 years!

Rolling the dice was a very serious activity and often there was much at stake.
Thus, the Roman soldiers were rolling the dice to the clothes of Jesus after crucifying him.
The Roman soldiers also found rolling the dice often more important than to guard!
