I can remember that I always love the rum balls for christmas that my grandmother made. Yes even as a child I sometimes got the opportunity to taste some of these delicious sweets. And since them I have to admit that I really like them very much. Now when Christmas is arriving and I saw some pictures of a girlfriend on Instagram posting about her cookies she made, I got jealous and decided to make some rum balls for me. :-)
They are pretty easy to make, you just need butter, chocolate, sugar, kakao, two eggs and rum. Mix everything together and form the balls. To make them even better I rolled them in coconut flakes. I was really surprised about the outcome since it was the first time I did them on my own. I can remember that I made some of them some years ago together with my mother but with her guidance.
The good thing on Rum Balls - you don't need to bake them just let them rest in the refrigerator and you are good to go. I made them for christmas but I can't imagine they will last very long and I will probably have eaten them in the next few days. :-) I really need to make some more just some days before christmas.
Rumballs for christmas but I doubt that they will not be eaten by then. Picture: Florian Glechner.

They could be a little more round but at least you can see that they are handmade. Picture: Florian Glechner.
