Only a few weeks and the ground squirrels should wake up again from their hibernation sleep. And I am already awaiting to visit them again this spring, but due to possible COVID regulations it may not be possible this year. Eastern Austria (Lower Austria, Vienna and Burgenland) tightened the COVID interventions and so it might not be possible to visit these provinces of Austria without a COVID Test, Quarantine and whatever they will come up with in the future.

Depending on the regulations it may take quite a time to be able to visit places like Lower Austria or Vienna again. But now in Spring this is probably the most interesting time for wildlife photography. I Probably need to concentrate my photography trips here in Upper Austria and even here in Upper Austria it is possible that they close down several districts. I of course hope that the regulations will be as light as possible. Because for me, it is very unlikely to get infected with COVID when I only stay outside in the nature and most of the time alone.

Last year in Spring and Summer we were able to visit Lower Austria and the Burgenland in Eastern Austria, and we really had a very nice and beautiful time there. I hope something like this will be possible this year too, but I am afraid this might not be possible. This Situation already last a bit too long in my opinion.

Today after work I directly drove to a sandbank of the Danube river near Linz because a friend of me took some pictures of the "Little ringed plover" there. This bird is back from the south, but today I was not successful. I couldn't find it and also there were only very little other birds. The only birds I found there were some wagtails and some gulls.
