Hello my dear diners, today I bring you a review of a shawarma restaurant, traditional Arabic food, with real Arabs and that is located in my city.
It is the Castillo del Rey restaurant.
A day of walking and eating
We chose this restaurant because it was close to where we were running our errands, it is nice, economical, a reference corner as well as traditional as it has been on the same corner for many years and compared to other prices in the area we were in, it was the best option we had.
In Lecheria, there are many nice restaurants, with a variety of food, but very expensive. For example: previously we visited one that only cost $6 for a single hamburger (meat, ham, cheese, vegetables, potatoes and sauces), and because of its size I had to eat two.
My mother and I were there so two hamburgers, plus soft drinks and some extra potatoes could easily reach $20 馃槺 look at that and I'll make a week-long market ha,ha,ha,ha.
Restaurant el Castillo del Rey 驴El mejor shawarma? Hola mis estimados comensales, hoy les traigo una rese帽a de un restaurant de shawarmas, comida tradicional 谩rabe, con verdaderos 谩rabes y que se encuentra en mi ciudad. Se trata del restaurant Castillo del Rey. D铆a de caminata y comida. Pues este restaurant lo elegimos porque estaba cerca de donde estabamos haciendo nuestras diligencias, es bonito, econ贸mico, una esquina de referencia adem谩s de tradici贸n ya que tiene muchos a帽os en la misma esquina y comparado con otros precios en la zona que nos encontrabamos, fue la mejor opci贸n que tuvimos. En Lecher铆a, existen muchos restaurantes bonitos, con variedad de comida, pero super costosos. Por ejemplo: previamente visitamos uno que solo una hamburguesa costaba $6, sencilla (carne, jam贸n, queso, vegetales, papas y salsas), y por su tama帽o deb铆a comerme dos. Estabamos mi madre y yo as铆 que dos hamburguesas, m谩s las bebidas refrescantes y alguna papa extra f谩cilmente pod铆an alcanzar los $20 馃槺 miren con eso voy y hago un mercadito de una semana ja,ja,ja.
So since the mission was to eat, we had to go somewhere else. We kept walking and came across this Arab place. I thought it didn't work, but it's more alive than ever, so we went in.
As铆 que como la misi贸n era comer, tuvimos que acudir a otro sitio. Seguimos caminando y nos encontramos con este 谩rabe. Pens茅 que no funcionaba, pero esta m谩s vivo que nunca, as铆 que entramos.
Shawarma is not one of my favourite foods, but they have always been cheap here, so it was a good choice because elsewhere they can cost $5 and up. The difference between shawarma and falafel is that the former is filled with meat and the latter has croquettes made with grains that are very tasty, and even have a taste and consistency similar to meat, so it's a good option too. Lastly, I noticed that the burger was more appetising than the previous place and only cost $2, a total saving. They also have other typical dishes but it will depend on whether you want to explore or eat something you like.
El shawarma no est谩 entre mis comidas favoritas pero aqu铆 siempre han sido econ贸micos, as铆 que fue una buena opci贸n porque en otros lados su precio puede ser de $5 en adelante. La diferencia entre el shawarma y el falafel es que el primero esta relleno de carne y el segundo tiene unas croquetas hechas con granos que son muy sabrosas, e incluso, tienen un sabor y consistencia parecida a la carne as铆 que es un buena opci贸n tambi茅n. Por 煤ltimo, not茅 que la hamburguesa era mas apetecible que la del sitio anterior y solo costaba $2, un ahorro total. Tambi茅n tienen otros platos t铆picos pero va a depender si quieres explorar o consumir algo que te guste.
Its location positions it to be seen all along the avenue, we were just walking and we found it. Inside it is spacious, some people were eating, others came in to look for food, in short, it is a reference so many people know its food, flavour and tradition, that's why it is so crowded.
Su ubicaci贸n lo posiciona para verlo en toda la avenida, nosotros simplemente estabamos caminando y lo encontramos. Adentro es espacioso, estaban algunas personas comiendo, otros entraban a buscar comida, en fin, es referencia as铆 que muchas personas conocen su comida, sabor y tradici贸n, por eso van concurrido.
While we were waiting I took some photos so that they could see that I was me in the place and not for nothing, but the smell of meat and spices made me even hungrier, but as there were orders ahead, no way! we had to wait. They brought us the sauces and the soft drink, the wait continued until finally the taste arrived!
Mientras esper谩bamos tom茅 algunas fotos para que vieran que yo era yo en el sitio y que no es por nada, pero el olor a carne y especias me provocaba mas hambre, pero como hab铆a pedidos adelante 隆ni modo! tuvimos que esperar. Nos trajeron las salsas y el refresco, la espera continuaba hasta que por fin 隆Lleg贸 el sabor!
I don't know if it was because I was really hungry or because it was really good, but the truth is that every bite satisfied my need to eat 馃ぃ. The sauce they put on to accompany the shawarma was great, so I had the formula _sauce, bite, sauce, bite_ 馃ぃ I wasn't the only one I liked because my mum even asked if there wasn't any more 馃構.
They put two sauces, a chickpea (bean) sauce and a garlic sauce, both thick and tasty. The shawarma comes full of vegetables, chicken, meat, and pickles, the latter I take out, I don't like them. The Arabic bread was soft and manageable which is a good thing because when it's hard or stale, it's hard to handle and cut, spilling all the contents and being a real mess.
No s茅 si porque ten铆a mucha hambre o porque de verdad estaba muy bueno, pero la verdad que cada mordisco saciaba mi necesidad de alimentarme 馃ぃ. La salsa que nos colocaron para acompa帽ar el shawarma estaba genial, por ende tuve la f贸rmula _salsa, mordisco,salsa, mordisco_ 馃ぃ a mi no fue la 煤nica que me gust贸 porque mi mam谩 incluso pregunt贸 si no hab铆a m谩s 馃構. Colocan dos salsas, esa de garbanzos (granos) y otra de ajo, las dos bien espesas y sabrosas. El shawarma viene lleno de vegetales, pollo, carne, y pepinillos, estos 煤ltimos los saco, no me gustan. El pan 谩rabe estaba suave y manejable cosa que es muy buena porque cuando esta duro o viejo, es d铆ficil de manejar y cortar, derramando todo el contenido siendo un verdadero desastre.
Finally, it is worth noting that they sell some sweets that also sell quite a lot because in the short time I was there, several people came and took some sweets with them. I have never tasted these typical Arab sweets, and another time I go there I will surely buy some to broaden the flavours I am used to from my country.
With its two environments, one closed with air (very important in our area with so much heat) and another outside, in the open air, I tell you that it is a cozy, quiet place, you can tell that they have years in the market and is accepted by many who I assume like the food and seek the economy like me, so in conclusion, I recommend it because it left me very satisfied with what I ate.
I was going to order one to bring home, because the bill was half of what I would spend in the first restaurant visited, but I remembered that this brings sauce and on the way, it is thrown away and the bread becomes watery, after a while, everything falls apart and the bread is not very good, so it is better to eat it on the spot, just made.

Por 煤ltimo es bueno resaltar, que venden unos dulces que tambi茅n se venden bastante porque en el poco tiempo que estuve all铆, llegaron varias personas llev谩ndose algunos de ellos. Jam谩s he probado estos dulces t铆picos de los 谩rabes, y en otra oportunidad que pase por all铆 seguro compro algunos para ampliar los sabores a los que estoy acostumbrada de mi pa铆s. Con sus dos ambientes, uno cerrado con aire (muy importante en nuestra zona con tanto calor) y otro afuera, al aire libre, les cuento que es un lugar acogedor, tranquilo, se nota que tienen a帽os en el mercado y es aceptado por muchos que asumo les gusta la comida y buscan la econom铆a como yo, as铆 que en conclusi贸n, yo lo recomiendo porque me dej贸 muy satisfecha con lo que com铆.
Iba a pedir uno para traer a casa, porque la cuenta dio la mitad de lo que gastar铆a en el primer restaurant visitado, pero record茅 que esto trae salsa y en el camino, se bota y el pan se pone aguado, pasado el tiempo, se deshace todo y no queda muy bien el pan, as铆 que es mejor comerlo en el sitio, acabado de hacer. Con esto me despido, esperando que hayan disfrutado mi rese帽a y que puedan tambi茅n compartir su experiencia con alg煤n restaurant de comida 谩rabe as铆 como su dulcer铆a o alg煤n plato t铆pico.
