The cloud cover has been keeping the temps nicely moderate but there is a hard freeze in the forecast now. I will have to get the celery all up before then and the last of the chard needs a home.

Once I was out and going for the day I headed up on the hill with the saw and got to bucking the tree down to size. I started at the top and let each round tumble down the hill.

It had a ways to go and some of hte rounds got a good head of steam on them. The sheep and alpaca took until I was this far down the tree before they finally figured out to stand to the left of me and the path of the rounds. None of them got hit by logs though a couple of close calls did happen.

It took me a n hour of sawing to get the tree bucked and trundled. I then stated up the hill and cut down a bunch of saplings that were blocking a bunch of light from the farm.

I have a ton more to take down this year but this is a good start.

There is now a much clearer view down to the house which means more likely chance of getting winter sunlight on the driveway to hopefully help thaw it faster in spring. The other saplings are all along the ridge edge and will get dropped to let the sheep munch on the green tips.

I was done with the saw when the eagles screeched quite loud and I looked up to see the pair perched on the branches of their nesting tree.

I hauled the saw and the cable and chain back to the shed and went inside for a little break. I opened my weather app as I sat down and saw a line of rain just about to hit us. Nice timing.

stryeyz@stryeyz and the boys got back from town with food so I ate then headed back out. The trailer got hooked up to the truck and I backed it into the sheep pen. Surprisingly the fence did not get destroyed like I figured it would. It ended up catching the rounds quite nicely and only a few bounded over it in their descent.

They all finally made their way up the hill to the fresh nibblins and spent a good bit of the afternoon perusing the various tree tops laying on the ground.

The entire tree fit on the trailer and I drove it across the farm and into the inner yard.

The rounds all got stacked to get split at some point. I am going to use a log splitter this time instead of only the maul.

I hit the one maul into a round and J tried to get Axecalibur free of the tree.

My glycerin finished hanging and once I squeezed it all out I got it into jars.

We also had Azure pickup which the driver was early for so when we got there they were already divvying things up. It was a small order so it went quick and we were soon back home.

I can say for sure that Sudafed does wonders for the draining head and helped me immensely during the day. I managed to make it to 10 pm at least last night before having to check out.

Today I have to haul more logs from the other 2 trees that I have cut up into the inner yard. The freeze dryer HAS to get going with the next batch which I am going to do a full run of peppers, since the freeze is soon I am going to have it running nonstop to process the celery, chard, peppers, and melons.
