Yesterday morning I delivered the 120 pounds of summer squash to the co-op right at opening. The winds were not the best so I did not try to go flying. Nicely my trip was right back to the normal of years prior and I was soon home.

While it was cooler I go the cucumbers and squash picked. I got another 20 cucumbers and 12 pounds of squash.

I had to finish the 2 rows of Romano beans which gave me 2.5 pounds and a total of 102 pounds from the 2 rows.

Then I grabbed my second tub and stacked them to pick into. When the first was full I set it behind me in the row and kept picking. In an hour or so I had both filled for 18.5 pounds of Roc D Or beans.

It was from about 8 feet of the rows so looking at the plants I should get about 40 pounds per row when I am done. By this point I was over the bean picking as I had picked 121 pounds in 3 days. I have to get back to it but I needed a break.

The winds picked up a bit in the afternoon so I got the boys, a bike, and my wing loaded in the truck and we headed up to the high school so I could do some kiting. I wanted to try out my new risers and also work on my kiting more.

J rode his bike around the track while R ran a couple of laps. They spent about half an hour running around before coming back over.

I kept doing laps of the field s the wind would ebb and blow. There were some nice sessions where I got the wing popped up perfectly overhead and was able to easily keep it in place. I discovered that I can pull a cravat out of a wing tip by pulling on my big ears line. A quick tug and the cravat pops right out. I also had seen Kim give a big pull of the breaks on one of his launches which caused the wing to stop right over his head. I was able to do it a couple of times and the wing stopped right overhead with a nice hard pull of both breaks as the wing just reaches about 80 deg over me. It was a very useful kiting session for me.

We brought the little power kite and so I got it setup for the boys who ended up getting it in the air a few times. They took to launching it when I pulled my wing up as that meant there was some wind. It will take a much windier day for them to get good practice time with it.

We were standing in the field waiting for this cloud to pass. When it moved in front the sun the wind died. As it moved away the wind picked up again and we kited for a little longer. It ended up being about an hour and half that we were gone and both boys were pretty hot and worn out.

When we got home I got the trailer hooked up and the barrels loaded for my grain run that I have done this morning.

It was warm in the greenhouse but I had seen in the morning that the cucumbers needed to be tied again so I worked my up the row and fixed the tips to the lines.

My first plant has reached the top purlin. I need to start running lines from the top purlin to the one over the peppers so I can keep the cucumbers growing horizontally. It may shade my tomatoes a bit.

I got more than a heaping handful of raspberries again. The plants just keep producing.

The end/beginning of months mean the new Crunchlab box comes for the boys. This one is a duck tipping game using the party horns as the "weapon". J then remembered one of the prior ones was a disc launcher so he got that and was able to knock them over.

I grilled sirloin tip steaks for us for dinner and we had a slew of fresh veggies.

I'm downloading a bunch of series for us to watch this winter, or fall even, when the days are shorter. We are working on Mrs. Maisel a little bit now but I have Black Mirror, Good Omens, What We Do In The Shadows, and Inside Man so far. The new episodes of Futurama we watch as they come out.

I have been to town for grain and dumped the barrels already. Today I have harvests to do then I have to sit my ass in the garden and pick a boat load of beans. My poor back is not liking it very much but at least I have the winter to recuperate. At least I have every episode of the Cloudbased Mayhem podcast to listen to and learn from while picking.
