The drums is the instrument that gives rhythm to the group. It's like the locomotive that drags the rest of the train. In fact, it did not exist before the appearance of jazz. Only drums and cymbals were played separately in the parades. It was necessary to gather everything to be able to play with the other instruments. Elvin Jones is one of the greatest jazz drummers. He is best known for playing with Coltrane. He played both hard Bop and avant-garde jazz. He moved to New York in 1955 and worked with Miles Davis and Sonny Rollins. After separating from Coltrane, he toured with Duke Ellington and thereafter began forming his own groups, such as the Elvin Jones's Jazz Machine in the 1990s.
The theme is very cheerful and fun, invites you to enjoy life. Everything is beautiful around you. Coltrane continues to encourage you with his optimistic solo, although sometimes with his soprano sax he gets a bit out of tonality to give it a spicy flavor. Then Tyner enters in the same wave, although a little calmer, taking it with more tranquility. And Coltrane returns with his sing-song melody to finish the theme.
