When Clifford Brown and Richie Powell passed away, Roach replaced them with Kenny Dorham and Ryan Bryant, respectively. He also changed Harold Land to George Coleman on tenor saxophone and incorporated the 3/4 meter into some of his themes. In 1960, influenced by the civil rights movement and then his wife, singer Abbey Lincoln, he recorded the album We Insist!

In 1962 he recorded the album Money Jungle with Duke Ellington and Charles Mingus. During the 1960s he devoted himself to politics and reduced his musical activity. In the 1970s he organized a percussion ensemble called “M’Boom” and played with avant-garde musicians, and has continued to form different groups until his death in 2007.

The theme is a blues with a catchy melody. The first one to perform his solo is Brown and he starts doing pirouettes, he knows his way around well. Then Land enters calmly, and after a few quick phrases he comes back to peace and quiet. Powell follows him with a very bluesy solo that he decorates with his own contributions. Next comes Roach with a solo full of strength and consistency. Morrow plays a walking for a few bars and finally comes the re-exposure of the theme.
