Hello dear friends, passionate about drawing, painting and all art, today I want to share with you a drawing that I made as a celebration of this month of October, where the date of Halloween is celebrated, I will be making several drawings with this theme and to start this time I've done the serial killer Michael Myers from the 1977 movie Halloween directed by Jhon Camperter. This murderer along with Leatherface represent the best of the horror of the 70s, after them the serial killer movies only replicated the formula, so we are facing a pop culture character, I hope you like this drawing.
Hola queridos amigos, apasionados del dibujo, la pintura y todo el arte, hoy quiero compartir con ustedes un dibujo que hice como celebración de este mes de Octubre, donde se celebra la fecha de Halloween, estaré haciendo varios dibujos con esta temática y para iniciar esta vez he hecho al asesino serial Michael Myers de la película Halloween de 1977 dirigida por Jhon Camperter. Este asesino junto a Leatherface representan lo mejor del terror de los años 70, después de ellos las películas de asesinos en sere solo replicaron la fórmula, así que estamos ante un personaje de la cultura pop, espero que les guste este dibujo.
PROCESS
In the first 6 images you can see the beginning, from the selection and cutting of the black paper to how I began with the sketch of the head using simply a white pencil, once the face was delimited to give volume to the fearsome Michael Myers mask. I used a range of colors that I always use for skin tones, so I slowly started painting on the inside of the face.
En las primeras 6 imagenes puede verse el comienzo, desde la selección y corte del papel negro hasta como fui comenzando con el boceto de la cabeza utilizando simplemente lápiz de color blanco, una vez delimitado el rostro para darle volumen a la temible máscara de Michael Myers utilicé una gama de colores que siempre uso para los tonos de la piel, así que comencé poco a poco a pintar en el interior del rostro.
Then we paint the mask to give it volume and try to make the expression of terror that it expresses as close as possible, so with the pastel colors we lighten some parts while leaving other parts unpainted to later make the shadows better. Then with the white pencil I was giving another layer of filler to accentuate more those parts that are illuminated, such as the nose, part of the cheekbones and also the front part. The strokes are soft and slow, there is no need to be in a hurry, in this way the stroke is more uniform.
Luego vamos pintando la máscara para darle volumen y tratar de hacer lo más parecido la expresión de terror que expresa, así que con los colores pasteles vamos aclarando algunas partes mientras que otras partes las dejamos sin pintar para luego hacer mejor las sombras. Después con el lápiz blanco fui dando otra capa de relleno para acentuár más aquellas partes que estan iluminadas, como la nariz, parte de los pómulos y también la parte frontal. Los trazos son suaves y lentamente, no hay que tener apuro, de esta forma el trazo nos queda más uniforme.
The next step was to give the shadows better volume, so for that I gave them a little clarity using a light brown color and a pastel color on the edges and limits to degrade it and mix it with the white, I did this so that the mask can be better appreciated and that it is not painted in a very linear way. So also with a black color I gave more strength to the darker parts such as the eyes, the lower part of the nose and also the lips.
El siguiente paso fue darle mejor volumen a las sombras, así que para eso les dí un poco de claridad utilizando un color café claro y en los bordes y los límites un color pastel para asi degradarlo y mezclarlo con el blanco, esto lo hice para que se pueda apreciar mejor la máscara y que no se vea pintado de una forma muy líneal. Así tambien con un color negro le dí mas fuerza a las partes más oscuras como por ejemplo en los ojos, la parte inferior de la naríz y tambien los labios.
After finishing everything that is the part of the face, I now started with the hair, I made the first strokes with the same white color of wax, which is a not-so-intent white, I did everything that is the hair. After finishing it I began to paint the hair or to give more strength to the dark tone of the paper, this so that there can be a difference with the background, I used a black marker and in this way I painted the entire area of the hair and it can be seen in the image the difference between the dark tone of the paper and the tone of the marker.
Luego de dar por finalizado todo lo que es la parte del rostro comencé ahora por el cabello, hice los primeros trazos con el mismo color blanco de cera, que es un blanco no tan intento, hice todo lo que es el cabello. Después de terminarlo comencé a pintar el cabello o a darle más fuerza al tono oscuro del papel, esto para que pueda haber una diferencia con el fondo, utilicé un marcador de color negro y de esa forma pinté toda el área del cabello y se puede apreciar en la imagen la diferencia entre el tono oscuro del papel y el tono del marcador.
Now the last steps are about giving a shine to the edges of the hair to make that lighting effect, as if there were a light behind Michael Myers's back, for that I use the white charcoal pencil that is a more intense color and is the one I use most often when I draw with black cardboard, I paint all the edges and we can see how it acquires that characteristic. In the same way I also place a soft light blue layer to match the lighting and have that dark tone that represents this character, in this way the drawing is finished.
Ahora los últimos pasos se tratan de darle un brillo a los bordes del cabello para hacer ese efecto de iluminación, como si hubiera una luz a la espalda de Michael Myers, para eso utilizo el lápiz de carboncillo blanco que es un color más intenso y es el que uso más seguido cuando dibujo con cartulina negra, pintodo todos los bordes y podemos ver como adquiere esa característica. De la misma forma tambien coloco una suave capa de color azul claro para que haga juego con la iluminación y tenga ese tono sombrío que representa a este personaje, de esta manera queda finalizado el dibujo.
As usual in me, to finish I observe the drawing very well for a long time to examine what things need to be fixed or given more strength, so I made the shadows and lights a little stronger. Michael Myers is one of my favorite horror characters, but only the one from the first film, because later the saga fell horribly, turning him into a supernatural being, taking away all the psychological background he had. Along with Leatherface and Terminator 1, they are among the most terrifying killers in science fiction. Como es costumbre en mi, para dar por finalizado observo muy bien el dibujo por mucho tiempo para examinar que cosas hay que arreglar o darle más fuerza, así que hice un poco mas fuerte las sombras y las luces. Michael Myers es de mis personajes de terror favoritos, pero solo el de la primera película, porque ya después la saga decayó de forma horrible convirtiéndolo en un ser sobrenatural, quitándole todo el trasfondo psicológico que tenía. Junto a Leatherface y Terminator 1, son de los asesinos más terroríficos que existen en la ciencia ficción.
