Over the past couple weeks, I have been in a bit of a funk. I had a death in the family, been off course on my diet/workout plan and just all around hasn’t been myself. I hate being in a funk but again who doesn’t. I have been back on track this week but it hasn’t been easy to shake it and get back into the swing of things. I missed posting the last couple days because I wanted to take time to really focus and get my tunnel vision again, back on my fitness.

I was going to do a regular update but I thought I would change it up and write about what I actually have been focusing on. My diet has been great and my workout is the same old but mentally to get back into the swing of things is where I feel I have been making great leaps and I want to share with everyone.

The whole reason I do this health kick is for my family. My kids and wife deserve a better me and I will give it to them but I have been taking the past couple days to really focus on my family. Without them I feel all this would be pointless, they are my driving motivation and the reason for all this.

It was just a few days ago I was sitting on the couch being a baby because I didn’t want to work out when my son came up to me and said he’d work out with me and asked to punch the punching bag. That sparked something in me and for the next two hours we took turns on the punching bag and running around the basement. I got a really good workout and all that negative thinking left my brain the moment my son asked to join me.

Just tonight too I was craving chips and my kids where munching on carrots. My daughter brought a few over to share with me without asking, she’s been going through a faze though where she takes a bite of something they have to share it with everyone in the room. Unknowingly she saved me from my junk food craving! Such an innocent act that really helped me from myself.

Sure, you can eat all the clean food you want and do grueling workouts but without getting your mental health in check too, you are kind of playing Russian roulette with the possibility of one of the negative thoughts winning and eating that junk food or skipping that let workout! Sometimes too the greatest tools that will help carry you to a better you is the people you keep around you so don’t take them for granted. The inspiration they will bring you is going to be the greatest tool on the way to your success.

Sorry if this post was a bit long winded but I wanted to share this as my main focus for the past few days hasn’t been my diet or my workouts but more so getting my mind back in the game!

Feel free to comment below about a few things you do to get back into the flow of things when it comes to health and fitness. What are some people/things that inspire you?
