On Saturday, I had planned to take photos of my well-stocked and laden stand at the market. I think visitors/patrons did, but I couldn't.
Let me explain
Our market runs from 9 to 11 am. Usually, the first hour flies because we have patrons. Nine times out of ten, we all look at our watches exactly an hour in, as the tide of customers ebbs. Not Saturday. The first glance at the clock was 10.30am and the next, at 11.10 and pack-up time.
Scotched
The scotch eggs flew. I had made 22 and even before I landed at the market, 10 were sold - for delivery or collection. Speaking of which, at 6am on Saturday, and as I was getting ready to put the bread in to bake, a weekender neighbour, sent a shopping list. Literally. Just of my fair. She and her husband were only arriving that afternoon and didn't want to miss out. When she arrived, she added to that list and left laden with loot.
Back at the market
Clearly, there was no time for photographs as customers arrived early as opposed to promptly. There's no real point in photographing an empty stall.
It was, for me, a spectacular market. The best ever. Again. A sellout.
The remains
After all was said and done, and selling 14 punnets of pickled fish (28 pieces) and fulfilling orders for another 16 pieces, there was just enough left to make supper for us.
Served with a salad and a sourdough bun to mop up the sauce.
It was one of the best batches I have ever made. I admit that the voice notes from happy customers do make me equally happy.
The Husband's disappointed, though. There's none left.
If you want to know how I made it, I shared the recipe, a couple of days ago.
Not quite scotched
There was, happily, a single scotch egg left, and The Husband and I shall share it tomorrow. It will feature in this week's Three (or four) Photo Thursday post.
Speaking of which, one patron asked if I am "scotch". I am afraid, she got my father's stock, almost acid, riposte:
Scotch is what you drink. I am Scottish.
There followed a fun conversation that saved the day.
We have another super long, long weekend coming up, so I am scheming planning again. A week's break and then another two-day kitchen stint, I suspect.
Until next time, be well

I am participating in @traciyork's twice-yearly Hive Blog Posting Month.
If this post might seem familiar, it's because I'm doing two things:
- re-vamping old recipes. As I do this, I am adding them in a file format that you can download and print. If you download recipes, buy me a coffee. Or better yet, a glass of wine....?
- and "re-capturing" nearly two years' worth of posts.
- From Wordpress, I use the Exxp Wordpress plugin. If this rocks your socks, click here or on on the image below to sign up.
