Heyy Everyone
Sorry for ghosting on all of you guys. My discord is filled with messages from some of you lovely people. Really missed everything about Hive & Leo Finance, especially socializing with everyone. Cannot say I am back like before (I will be, very soon™) but this blog is so much special that I had to take a day off from my usual work to draft it.
Today, I would like to share a piece of great news with all of you. I am going through a life-changing event. I started a new business - Grocery Supermart, with two other partners who are my cousins. You can congratulate me with your juicy upvotes, thanks in advance. 😜
This is the first time I am operating from a brick-and-mortar model. All of my other ventures were/are online and after getting into this new model, I have started appreciating the digital world even more. Running a physical store is a pain in the ass, no kidding! It's great because it tests your communication and sales skill in real-time, face-to-face, and there's no hiding behind a laptop. Although I have dedicated staff to close the sales and do promotions, I have to be on the field to get the initial set of 400-500 repeat customers. It would take 3-6 months to get there, maybe more but we not stopping until we break even.
The store has a total of 2300 sq. ft. area located in the capital city of India - New Delhi. We have 15 staff members including the Store Manager, Housekeeper & Security Guard. The most important and the toughest job in this business is managing inventory of over 1000 different SKUs. You have to keep on ordering the new stock depending upon the demand of each SKU. The next important job is to manage the cash flow. The supermarket is live for 45 days now and we have taken a good amount of feedback to understand what are the best products and services for our customers.
Why Did I Start This?
Covid, the pandemic that stopped the whole world, has made me learn two important things:
- Never rely on one income source.
- Do something that's pandemic proof.
As soon as the world got hit by Covid and came to a standstill grocery businesses started booming in India. Even the small ones! There has been a cultural shift in how we shop groceries now. This business model is covid proof because demand doesn't die. In fact, it got increased with each pandemic wave. There are several moving parts that you have to learn and then manage in perfect harmony. I will talk more about all these things in detail in my future posts to help everyone understand how anyone can set up and run a supermarket. For now, picture dump, yayy!! 😜✌ @forexbrokr, you wanted pictures? There you go!

I know, right. It looks like crap in these images. We spent some 60 days transforming this site into something that looks like one of the best supermarkets in the vicinity. See for yourself!

The rest of the pictures were taken in the morning so that it will be empty for me to take them! I hope you like them.
As much as I would like to sell groceries for crypto, I cannot do it in India. Hopefully in the future. Until then, I want to do something that promotes blockchain tech and crypto. You guys can give me some cool ideas on how to do that. See you in the comments!✌️
