Here is a video connected to my post "monkey encounter...." where I talk about proper behavior with wild monkeys in tourist areas.

E Mei Shan is beautiful all year but during winter the snow and clouds create an atmosphere which makes you feel at a sacred place. If you sing well loud enough you can make snow fall from the trees with your voice in some places. On our way up we didn´t spot any monkeys but on the way down we got lucky. The monkeys know the tourists very well and steal when they are not looking. Sadly the tourist behaviour/presence has a bad effect on the mokeys habits. So I tried to connect with the monkeys in a careful way letting them catch peanuts one by one. I wanted to appeal to the playing instinct which. Holding a peanut in the hand letting the monkey approach slowly also works. But remember they are no pets. Be present, keep your distance and let the monkey lead the exchange.
