聽聽聽聽聽聽Nada como una reincorporaci贸n de la lista de lesionados y regresar aportando al equipo.

Nothing beats a fresh activation from the IL and immediately dealing for your squad. In a season where arms are completely running the show鈥攚ith the league-wide batting average sitting at a meager .239 through yesterday鈥攈aving veteran presence behind the dish is absolute gold. Front offices are getting so desperate for Ws that they are forcing the envelope with some seriously unorthodox small-ball tactics and aggressively fast-tracking their top prospects to the Show. Take Ronald鈥檚 younger brother, Luisangel Acu帽a, who has been mired in a brutal dynamic at the plate to the point of losing his everyday job in center field for the Chicago White Sox. San Diego Padres backstop Freddy Ferm铆n is another guy who lost his everyday spot and has been relegated to occasional late-game catching duties. It is all a byproduct of league-wide bats going completely ice-cold against this dominant pitching, but today we are talking about impact returns, specifically Venezuelan hot-corner veteran Eugenio "Geno" Su谩rez.

The Ohio squad keeps grinding away in the loaded NL Central. hosgug@hosgug should be absolutely pumped, considering the Reds sit just four games back of the brew crew for the division lead while getting their Venezuelan slugger fresh off the IL. Yesterday, in the top of the first with a 2-2 count, two outs, and two ducks on the pond, Geno ambushed an 89 MPH changeup and crushed a one-hop ground-rule double off the wall in right-central at Citi Field. That knock drove in the first two runs of the game, putting Cincinnati in the driver's seat for good. With that swing, Su谩rez officially proved he is fully back from the oblique strain that kept him sidelined from the lineup for three weeks. When the dust settled, it was a convincing 7-2 victory for the Reds over the fading New York Mets. Every single team in this powerhouse division boasts a winning record as Cincinnati makes its charge toward the top, while the Mets find themselves buried 15 games back in the NL East cellar, left to ponder whether they will have to start selling pieces ahead of this year's August 3rd trade deadline.

Remember when I told you yesterday about the Venezuelan players in Arizona always finding a way into the team's run production? Well, it looks like whenever Venezuelan starter Eduardo Rodr铆guez takes the bump, that trend goes into overdrive. Let鈥檚 break down the snake-bitten ace鈥檚 performance: 6 full frames scattering 6 hits, giving up 2 earned runs (including a big fly), issuing 2 free passes, and sitting down 6 via the punchout. That quality start kept the Diamondbacks right in the thick of it. Four of the seven runs driven in by the desert bats were knocked in by the sticks of Ildemaro Vargas and Gabriel Moreno, with both Venezuelans acting as spark plugs alongside Carroll and Marte. It is a terrifying lineup that keeps them just 4.5 games back of the top spot in the NL West, currently led by the Dodgers. When the final out was recorded, it was a 7-5 victory over the trailing San Francisco Giants, who kept Luis Arr谩ez out of the starting lineup.

Finally, whenever his big brother isn't stealing the headlines, William Contreras makes damn sure to get his name in lights up in Milwaukee. The brew crew was hosting the St. Louis Cardinals at American Family Field, and it was the bottom of the fifth when the home team decided to ambush the Redbirds' pitching. With nobody out, bags packed, and holding a slim one-run lead, William broke the game wide open by hunting a 90 MPH sinker and hammering a one-hop ground-rule double off the centerfield wall. That clutch two-run double pushed the score to 3-0. When the dust settled, he turned in a 4-for-2 line with a run scored, two RBIs, and a pair of punchouts. The victory helped solidify a 3.5-game cushion over those very same Cardinals. Want a fun stat? Milwaukee ranks third-to-last out of all 30 teams in the big fly department. In other words, they are manufacturing their Ws purely on the ground. How long can they keep grinding it out playing this style of baseball? Well, it looks like this victory over St. Louis proves they don't need the long ball to stack up wins, and in a season where pitchers are giving absolutely nothing away, that is a total blessing. We will keep riding.
