Yay! It’s the weekend!!! So that can really only mean ONE THING!!
It’s time for the #weekendfreewrite!
Each week @mariannewest gives three #freewrite prompts and you have to write for five minutes using each prompt - but no cheating and looking at the next prompt UNTIL you have finished with the first one!
You can find this week’s first prompt here: https://steemit.com/freewrite/@mariannewest/qap7l-weekend-freewrite-part-1-the-first-sentence

“Together, let's get to the bottom of exactly who stole my diary," Claire said.
Millie said nothing.
Millie was a doll and Claire didn't expect her to reply. Claire put Millie on top of the bed and looked around the room for clues.
There was not much to see.
All the toys were put away where they were supposed to be, the bed was made.
So... nothing like how she left it this morning.
"I think mummy has been in here," Claire said to Millie. Millie didn't disagree with her. "Do you think mummy stole my diary?"
Millie didn't have an opinion.
Claire looked at around her. Hold on a minute! Up, on the shelf with all the other books was her diary!
It hadn't been stolen at all!
Mummy had just put it away. Claire sighed in relief and took down the diary.
When she grew up, she decided, she was never going to tidy her room. That is how things got lost.
She took a pen from the jar on the desk and began to write.
…
"Are you both talking about the same thing?" Dan asked.
Claire shrugged. "I think so," she said.
Janet nodded. "It's about having respect for others. And I don't think you are showing respect for your fellow housemates."
Claire could feel anger grow. "I have respect for my fellow housemates!" she growled. "But may I remind you that you are not one of them."
She could see Dan flinch out of the corner of her eye. "You are a guest in this house, not an official housemate. Just because you sleep over every now and then, does not mean you get a say in how this house is run."
Janet folded her arms and looked at Dan. "Are you going to let her speak to me like that?" she asked.
Claire looked at Dan. He looked at Janet then at Claire, clearly wondering who he dare upset.
"I..." he began. "I...I don't know."
"Look," Janet said. "Your room is a pigsty. Fine, I get that you don't like to tidy up. But it smells. You have things growing in there. You need to tidy it up, and throw some things away before the whole house is infected with the plague or whatever!"
…
Claire slammed the door behind her and stamped up the stairs. At the top of the stairs, she paused. She could hear raised voices.
Trouble in paradise, she thought, smiling.
She wasn't a big fan of Janet. With her long blond hair and perfect teeth. And that laugh that sounded like a golf ball falling down an escalator.
Dan deserved better than that.
She took the key out of her pocket and slid it into the lock of her room. Someone with mousy brown hair, perhaps. And a name beginning with "C".
She opened the door. She had to admit, Janet had a point about the smell. She pushed her way into her room, picking her way through several pizza boxes - most of them half full.
There was another dead mouse on her bed. She picked it up by the tail and walked over to the window and opened it wide, throwing the rodent out.
Even the mice were finding her room toxic.

As usual, I used themostdangerouswritingapp.com to write each five-minute freewrite (and then tidied it up a bit in google docs afterward):
