I love the covers of my favorite books; they bring back memories of stories I read as a child. I have more shelf space in my library this year, and I’d love to add an encyclopedia of medicinal plants native to central Argentina, as well as a pocket-sized visual guide to local birds. I’d also like to find a nice A5 edition of Sun Tzu’s The Art of War and the Tao Te Ching so I can take them along when I go out.
I’m a huge fan of Borges, too, though I gave all my copies of his books to friends so they could read them. I really ought to get one of his poetry collections; his work has truly inspired me.
What book would you take to an island? I’d take the I Ching, without a doubt.
