Fortune as smiled upon me to be working for a company that develops people and their personal and professional growth.
This week I have found myself in a training position, to show someone how to use practical applications, mostly its an indirect handover as I take on new responsibilities in order to grow within my professional space.
It has taught me a new sense of self awareness, as I started speaking about the things that go wrong, but how to over bypass them , rather than resolve them , as system issues are not my responsibility.
I spoke of shortcuts, to get to the end result, in order to make it easier, but relaying information without context kills initiative.
Causing me to take a step back and actually check myself, as my example is crucial when I expect someone else to fill the gaps I will when leave the responsibility of that function to them.
Its been a learning experiences for me as well , in the greatest way as I am always looking for new means to reflect and a different angle from which to reflect from.
I wish to equip this new person with the tools on how to build, rather than explaining what to build.
To convey my expectations and the company standards , but also not to make it seem so daunting as if it were a bar set too high, that it becomes unattainable.
It makes me think about how important it is to train middle management with the correct skill set to deal with such situations , but also making way for the human element of personalities and creativity.
Its pretty fun, to impart knowledge, but its also a task of responsibility..
I do not know how parents do this with their children.
Parents are so amazing, being blessed with the gift of having children and the responsibility of guidance.
Its really powerful.
This is me signing out for now ... until next time..
