I have always been some one that questions reality,
I think I would like to thank and blame the Truman Show for that.

Also my mother is the type of person that would believe anything people say.
often using lines like " you know that say that too much gaming is bad for you" or " They say that if you cook with Cast Iron pans you will get sick."

Often trying to say things with good intentions, but not have anything of substance to back it up.
Way to go grinding my gears to be honest.

This led me to ask even more questions, like why do you always bake with room temperature eggs? Why do we bother to store them in the fridge then?

Growing up, I guess I was always in the kitchen, my mothers attempt to mold me into someone worthy of marriage - That's the answer I received when I asked why she only chose to teach me to cook and not my two older brothers.

Anyway whenever we had a big supper with family over and my we cooked up a storm, my mom would always make a leg of lamb. For some strange reason she would always cutoff the edges of the leg.

Every single time she would do this, and I could not understand it, and when I had asked, she told me that its how her mother did it and taught her.

I am still blessed to have my grandmother with us, and I had decided to ask her why, why would you cut the corners of the leg of lamb?

Did it cook faster? more evenly? did it taste better? was it more juicy?

My Gran looked at me and told me that she no longer does it...
What? so why does mom do it still?
Gran looked at me oddly and told me why...

She said, back in those days, my family wasn't particularly well off, because of this when she made a leg of lamb, it could not fit in the pot she had, so she cut the edges of the leg to make it fit.

I was in total disbelief, but really excited to tell my mom!
To show her that doing things without thought behind it could be a waste and to try and question things a little more, sadly mom still cuts the edges off the leg.

She said that shes been doing it for years and because of that she is so used to doing it, that it doesn't feel right not to.

Since that, I have always questioned my world, and the reality that is presented to me.
