These pictures are of a couple of mallards. I took these shots from my son's back deck, where a small stream runs. The mallard is the most common of all ducks. They are very familiar to those living in the northern hemisphere.
The mallard drake is the one with the yellow beak and green neck, the male.
The Mallard hen is the female duck, and is a mixture of browns and a little white.
Mallards are dabbling ducks,.They will turn themselves totally upside down to forage for plant life on the bed of ponds, lakes, rivers, and swamps.
As they exited the peaceful brook they worked their way up the embankment, and waddled through the yard, before taking flight.
My thanks to @keithboone, our gracious host. Love our #featheredfriday, great company!
