Just a few days ago, the main crime branch of the country came to solve a strange case, there were sudden incidents of mysterious thefts in some parts of the country. The modus operandi of all the thefts was the same. But the thefts were never happening in one city, this thief or his gang used to do one theft after another at a long distance.
These burglaries were mostly being done at the homes of retired and old couples. But one good thing was that there was no incident of physical violence or murder in these thefts. Thieves had a definite patron who would enter houses in the dark of night and render the householders unconscious by inhaling some intoxicant and make away with belongings, cash, jewellery, and valuables at ease.
Inspector Mahesh Deshmukh was assigned the case, and a sub-inspector Rashmi Nehwal was appointed to assist him, Deshmukh was a very experienced policeman, but also a bit eccentric. The department didn't like his way of solving cases but still the department was tolerating him because of the results of catching criminals. Rashmi Nehwal was a girl of simple appearance with a slim body but she had very good knowledge of computers, that is why Deshwal had engaged her in this case with him. Anyway, Rashmi was only interested in working, she did not pay any attention to useless things and Deshmukh was also impressed by her.
The two analyzed the pattern of thieves and found that most of the thieves started from cities in the south and moved towards the west.
And the special thing about these thefts was that after every theft, the thief used to leave such an item at the spot as if he was challenging the investigators. Deshmukh and Rashmi, having reached the scene of the last theft, closely examine the crime scene, not finding any clue that could lead to the arrest of the thief, only a cigarette pice on which no fingerprints were found. , was found by the local police from the spot which was preserved as evidence.
Deshmukh thoughtfully asked Rashmi to make a route of the thefts, Rashmi made a list of the places of each theft with the help of computer and put it on a map.
It was found that every time the theft is being done in the district from south to west and increasing further 250 kms. So Deshmukh marked the next district to the west which is 250 kilometers away, then asked Rashmi to find out how many old couples are there in this district who live alone. Rashmi extracted information from the computer, a list of about 10 such people who lived alone and had money on them.
Deshmukh asked the local police to depute police constables in plain clothes to monitor these people.
Exactly after 6 days the team of thieves was caught, no one was hurt, the thieves confessed to all their crimes.
