What a week dear hivers from near and far! Work has been crazy busy and even though I worked extra hours Monday-Thursday, I was still bribed to come to work on Friday, which is usually my off day. I won’t bore you with details, as I already wrote about it in my #Actifit report on my alt.

Working on Friday has some benefits, as I will get paid overtime, which will help cover up the losses of the 3 days I had to take off sick in 2 weeks I had the allergy flare ups, but it also made my weekend a little shorter.

No biggy, I still managed to make the most of it. I went shopping right after work, I had a healthy meal afterwards and I even managed to write a long form post and today shows that this particular post won 1st place in the #ladiesofhive community contest.

I remember my eyes were closing while writing it, as waking up early on Friday is very unusual for me, but the topic of the contest sparked the writing mojo and I couldn’t stop writing.

It was different to my usual, colourful posts, full of pretty pictures. I wasn’t concerned with decorating it, as the purpose of it was to answer the question of the prompt. And in truth that’s what I’d like to do more of from now on. Write without the obsession of decorating it that I often use as an excuse not to write. Decorating takes time, which I don’t always have while working full time.

Of course, I will continue writing colourfull posts too. When I feel like it. I know people love to scroll through posts full of pretty pictures. What happens with those is that people rarely read what’s between those pictures. I know I’m guilty of this behaviour too! It’s easy to curate posts like this.

Oftentimes though I feel more satisfaction from writing a post with a message, that sparks a conversation. It might make people think, react, relate or disagree. Sometimes we struggle with various issues alone, but sharing them with others shows that many of us share common problems and if anything it is good to talk about it. That’s how we build lasting friendships in this online world.

Speaking of lasting relationships… coolmidwestguy@coolmidwestguy is a perfect example of those. I met Bob on another platform - read.cash where we instntly got on like house on fire. I was over the moon when Bob joined Hive and our friendship continued here. Last month Bob’s help was invaluable in achiving my first #PUM badge in half a year.

I collected 3 of those at the beginning of this year, but since then I fell off the wagon and always managed to break the strike of Powering Up 1 Hive each day of the month somewhere mid-month. While more than 1000 people receive their PUD badge every month, only around 60 people on the whole blockchain manage to be consistent enough to achieve PUM badge each month. That’s what makes is so very special for me and that’s why I’m extremely grateful for Bob’s help in achieving it in September.

Here is to sharing this achievement with you, Bob. Hopefully first of many more to come!

Back to the topic of #HPUD or Hive Power Up Day though. It’s that time of the month when Hiveans rush to power up their Hive. Newbies and oldies who believe in the future of Hive blockchain know the importance of powering up regularly.

Why Power Up at all? Because it makes sense. The bigger your Hive Power, the bigger your influence on Hive blockchain. When you want to vote on your favourite posts, you need HP for your vote to leave a monetary mark. Consecutively, whenever you vote, half of your vote value comes back to your wallet. That’s why Powering Up Hive matters.

While posting regual, high quality articles is of most importance to add value to Hive blockchain as well as earn rewards, the importance of curation rewards can not be underestimated. It’s that magical money that lands in your wallet while you sleep - a true passive income.

Before that income becomes passive, some activity has to be completed and Powering Up your Hive is that needed activity.

While I Power Up my hive on (somewhat) regular basis by posting and curating, the Power Up Day is one of my favourite ways of doing it, because on that day many other Hiveans do exactly the same and it feels like a celebration day, after which we receive a new badge of the size appropriate to our power up.

So far, since my start of posting here at the end of October 2022, I collected 10 of those badges, although only 9 out of 10 this year. I missed May’s PUD, due to sleeping all day and today I could easily do the same, except that I can’t, cause it won’t let me sleep 😂 In all honesty, I want this year to end, so I can start fresh again, cause this one missed badge is looking odd!

For those of you who might be new to Power Up Day - there are prizes for participants and if you are not familiar with #HPUD check out traciyork@traciyork ‘s post here

In short, the requirements to be considered for the prizes are:

This month will be my second time when I play my little role in #HPUD by sponsoring lucky numbers 7 and 27 with 1HSBI Unit each to the winners. Traci had a bit of a delay with sending delegations from last month’s HPUD, but fear not - everyone will be rewarded nonetheless.

Last month I have already sent the rewards to 2 lucky winners and I’m excited and curious who I will be sending the prizes to this month!

Today I had to resort to transferring some of my Hive from my alt to main again to make a smaller, but still nice and round Power Up of 50 Hive.

My total stake after Powering Up 50 Hive is now 1722 HP. Comparing to last month’s 1588 HP this account saw a growth of just 134 HP this month. My default would be to beat myself up about slacking again, but as my holistic healer mentioned to me last week, my attitude towards myself sucks and I can’t beat myself up, as this is hurting my body, so I won’t. Little or small, there is always growth and I am grateful for this. Higher curation rewards coming up 😁

That's it for today. Happy Power Up Day everyone! There are still a few hours left till the end of the day if you haven’t powered up yet.

Until next time 💙
