If you are an absolute admirer of coffee, you will comprehend the sheer delight of having an equally appropriate coffee partner.
Especially for a person like me, finding a suitable coffee partner is almost inconceivable.
Yet fortunately, I had found some nearly equivalent dear ones from the work.
One of them was Dr. Brishty.
There are very few person who had earned my admiration and even fewer to possess it till the end. She is one of those fewer individuals whom I adore and admire even though I have lost contact with eventually.
People who work for NGOs like MSF, WHO, or UN to be precise for Humanitarian-crisis or Refugees, their jobs are not "just" jobs.
The job requires much more time, energy, effort, attention, and many more than a normal job. Certainly, it requires everything in an extensive manner.
- Extra energy.
- Additional efforts.
- More attention.
- And of course, having no regard for time!
Because our work is what the world refers to as "solely dedicated to serving humanity".
Particularly if you are involved in the management and administrative body.
That requires superfluous enhancement of your "every instinct".
Because then your responsibilities are never certain nor can be specified. You need to act upon your instinct most of the time.
Even though there will be policy books, you will keep encountering undefined policies.
On those hectic days, coffee seriously saves us.
At times like those, you will feel in your blood and bones what caffeine does and how it touches.
And to that, if you have the appropriate person it could not be more soothing.
And I will always thank Dr. Brishty for smiling at me regardless of her limitations or lack of power.
Usually, I hated myself for being strong and acting all the time. I genuinely reacted and even snapped when someone would tell me "You are strong. You can do it."
But when Dr. Brishty would say those words with a broad smile " Matron! Don't worry too much! You know, you can always confide in me."
It would reach to my soul, touch it, soothe it.
Then she will take me for a coffee to my usual favorite coffeeshop.
Just being around me was my strength.
Even being an excellent SIMS (Senior Internal Medicine Specialist) she upheld me even when it hurt her sometimes.
Indeed I understand I deserved every bit. Then again who in world these days understands and values an outsider in front of their own peers, just because she is worthy of it?
Well! The same was for me.
I was strong but wanted to be stronger for her sake, to protect her from the nasty things that goes around all the time.
I wish I had been more mature at that time.
I wish I had been wiser.
But now I have realized, these are something you just need to wait to accomplish with the age.
Dr. Brishty knows that even after being lost for years, she can always come back anytime and say "Hey Matron! Shall we go for a coffee!?"
I will simply say "Of course!"
No questions will be asked.
No promises will be desired.
