The weekend in 2023 i could re-experienced is my wedding weekend which held the first weekend in October, 2023. The day is a memorable day full of gratitude and joy for the privilege to witness such because it marks the beginning of a phase of life (singlehood) and begins another (marriage/family/home). Also, this event is also a one-time life event and to witness such is a joyous thing. Also, it was a day of joy for me to finally take down to the isle my fiancée after about 2years and some months of courtship.
The weekend begins in the morning with cultural engagement between the two families involving the immediate family members and this serves as a means to formally and legalistically exchange pleasantries, gifts and seek the hand of the woman and family in marriage. This is symbolic because it marks the beginning of unity and oneness i.e. family ties between the two different families involved no matter the differences in ethnicity, race or culture. Blessings are pronounced on the couples and there was refreshments/entertainment in local diet that day, this event usually holds in the bride's parents house.
Thereafter, the holy solemnization was held by the Priests and the official marriage certificate presented as gotten from the government with friends, families, colleagues, associates came together to felicitate and rejoice with the new couple. The highlights include photoshot sessions, merriment, presentation of gifts etc. My wedding weekend was a great one for me and it's brought together all as one big family which is key to a strong community/society.
This weekend showed me the importance of having, investing and leveraging on good friendship and relationships because the beauty of life are embedded in these as it is not possible to live life all alone. Also, the sayings that "life is in phases" and thats "there are seasons in life" are all i found true. For example, my bestman (groom's man) was my very good friend and brother in University then as an undergraduate while the men-in-native which is part othegroom's men are also my very good friend and colleagues.
In addition, two unforgettable experience about my wedding weekend was how the suit i wore and that of my bestman received positive compliments that day and even thereafter even though wasn't the initial choice, this amazes me so much. Also, the meal served received good compliments aswell with high appreciation for the culinary expert employed who did a nice job. I would love to re-experience this weekend as the joyful moments are still fresh in me and also at slightest rememberance.
