I want to say retirement is compulsory for everyone, it is either you retire or they retire you. But it is much better when you retire, that will give you more honour than being forced out.
As it works in the real world, people tend to save for retirement before they retire. The funds saved will serve as something they can hold on to when they retire, which is a good plan.
Do not be in hurry to retire when you don't have what to sustain you after retirement. This is the major reason why many are forced to retire. They do not plan to retire because they don't have anything to sustain them when they retire so they keep working until their employer decides to retire them.
I plan to retire early so I can spend more time with my family. So, if you are looking to retire, you have to plan for after retirement too.
