Advertising is the best way to spread news to a target audience especially if it has to do with business or brand. In this modern world, advertisement takes different forms but they are all advertising.
Advertising in the local paper only promote what you are advertising locally. Most people prefer to make their advertisement global, that is reaching a global audience, which is wise because you might have a potential customer beyond your local space.
To be frank, when I read the local paper, I do not pay attention to the advertising section. I just read through the paper as it is, I guess it is because I am not interested in whatever they put there. Most people check probably because they are in need of something, maybe a job or so. Visiting that corner serve as a way of getting what they want.
