Postcard views are much easier to shoot among beautiful places than to make a decent picture in an ordinary place. But here there are subtleties. If you approach the issue thoroughly, then you need to take into account all the standard views and try to avoid them. The photo will turn out much more interesting if the view of a particular attraction is non-standard. And now in simple words: we take the Internet, look at all the pictures, for example, at night Vologda, and try not to repeat them. It will be hard! In the world, in principle, everything has already been remade and it’s unlikely that something will succeed in surprising a connoisseur. Unless, you can defeat a layman with a beautiful picture, but it's too simple.
In a world where a huge number of photographers with professional cameras are widespread, surprisingly, there are not so many who take quality pictures in the dark.
Therefore, to achieve a greater effect, you need to shoot at the "blue hour" or at night.
Even the usual gray and cloudy cityscape changes at night due to street lighting.
Even due to only one light spot, you can make the composition more advantageous.
If there is light, then you need to use it for your own good.
When processing postcard views of the city, moderate retouching is welcome. Sometimes I clean the wires, clean the trash and extra light spots. I used to retouch more, but now I try to maximize the authenticity of the photographed view.
To make the photo a little more unusual, you can shoot from a classic angle, but use a non-standard foreground. Architectural objects in the city landscape are always a complement, and sometimes even a background.
Modern gadgets allow you to do a lot: you can turn on pictures of the city and, looking at them during the shooting, avoid standard views. In battle, as they say, all means are good! The main thing is the result!
From the first try it may not be possible to find and do something unusual, but if you go and take it at least once, it will already be more clear in which direction to move.
You need to try and everything will work out!
