Due to the renovation of the embankment, the street lighting was de‑energized, and only the signs of cafes and shops were lit, along with the emergency lighting in the courtyards. The red light from the café‑restaurant illuminated one of the trees on the riverbank.
I don’t have any more descriptions for the pictures, but I do have one question that’s been tormenting me.
I thought for a long time, studied the information, and came to a topic that frightened me — memory and the past.
Lately, I’ve been haunted by the phrase: the past, present, and future exist simultaneously.
And there’s a lot of information on the topic that if you constantly analyze the past, you can influence the present and the future.
So what exactly is this past, then? And do we even have it? Memory? History?
And that’s what really bothered me: what if there is no memory as such, and it can be rewritten—whether in one person, a group of people, or even in all of humanity as a whole?
I wake up and remember the dream, remember the events... but were they really real? And what if everything was different, but it was rewritten in a completely different way?
The thought is even more frightening: what if I woke up in a different time — in the past, for example — and I don’t remember the future (it’s erased), and the memories have been rewritten. I won’t even know what it was, that I lived some part of my life.
These are all just fiction and assumptions, and it most likely can’t be like that…
And what does a photograph reflect then? People have been trying for centuries to capture the course of events, to record history in some way, in order to preserve it... or rather, even to verify and confirm to themselves and others that everything actually happened. And they still do this, trying to arrange everything around them in chronological order. It seems to me that if time travel exists, it’s arranged in some other way, not the way it’s shown in movies.
