Sometimes you have to go back and explore different places again. For example, this village is from the same Parfenovo rural settlement of Veliky Ustyug district of the Vologda region of Russia, but it belongs to a completely different bush of villages. I started to study these places last fall, but I didn't manage to capture everything.
Yomkuch is a small river (only 14 km long) that flows along the Yug River. But, as always, I looked at the satellite map and immediately saw the former river bed. It turns out that this village once stood on the banks of the water trade route. The name was given to it already when a river or channel formed here - Lower Zayomkuch.
No one has lived in the village for a long time since the end of the last century. Perhaps people came here to relax, to the dacha, or to remember their parental home. The road passes through the territory of the sawmill.
In floods, Lower Zayomkuch can be cut off from the land by an overflowing river.
A mezzanine with a balcony is visible from afar - so there is something to see here!
The first house at the entrance to the village is surprisingly in very good condition. The doors are closed, the windows are intact.
And here are the first artifacts of that time.
There is a plaque on the house, which indicates that a participant in the Great Patriotic War lived in this house. Unfortunately, the name and surname are not written.
Only four houses have survived in the village, but earlier there were clearly more - after all, the location is very good.
The Yomkuch River, in general, does not exceed 10 meters in width, but I immediately see the channel of the Yug river here! This place can be called the lower reaches of the river, where small lakes are formed.
Immediately I want to imagine how this place looked like in ancient times.
The weather was amazing that day: the sun was not very bright and there was a rare fluffy snow.
Another village is visible on the hill in the distance. Do you think what is its name? That's right, it is Upper Zayomkuch! Again, this is not a hill at all, but the former bank of a river that has moved away many centuries ago.
Even despite the deep snow, it is a pleasure to walk here!
Another house with a sign assigned to the lived veterans of the Great Patriotic War.
This is another place where I would like to be in the summer and take pictures again, but not as a document, but in a landscape style.
But you need to do this with great care: you can be disappointed if you visit the same place again at a different time of the year.
To be continued...
