On my way from Veliky Ustyug to Vologda, driving along the Sukhonsky highway, I decided to stop somewhere I hadn't been before. An interesting name is Kochenga on the map, perhaps there is a large village there. But I never expected to see an almost abandoned village...
The village of Kochenga is located on the banks of the Sukhona River in Totem district.
There is a Poker between Totma and Nyuksenitsa, exactly halfway.
The name comes from a small river that flows into the Sukhona River just in the place where the village was founded.
It's been a long time since I've been to the world of abandoned villages...It's a good atmosphere.
There is an old stone church in Kochenga, which has been almost completely converted into a huge wooden five-wall.
There is an interesting cozy ravine in which the spring is located.
There are almost no ruined and dilapidated houses, all the houses are well maintained..but they are used as dachas.
Of the nearly fifty houses, only half are truly residential...and I met the residents at only three houses.
The place turned out to be quite remote...There are no villages nearby at all, within a radius of fifteen kilometers for sure!
And the road in general caused a lot of doubts about the existence of at least some kind of life.
Kochenga liked the division into a moat, height differences, dry streets, places where houses can only be approached on foot, the presence of a river nearby and silence.
..I probably just confused this place with another name Kamchuga, where there is a really large village...but he wasn't upset at all.
Having soaked up the comfort and silence, I no longer wanted to look for a more populated village.
