Today I bought the first Finnish strawberries this summer, it’s always a magical moment. Same goes with the new potatoes, the first harvest of the summer, they are unmatched by anything that is flown here from exotic countries during the winter when we don’t have anything fresh here.
Though one might think domestic grown produce would be cheaper, the first strawberries, I suspect because of extremely high demand, are super expensive, 19.8 euros per kilo! I won’t be buying with that price again, but I had to have them for mid summer. Finnish mid summer celebration constitutes of new potatoes, strawberries, beer, sauna, swimming in a lake and having to wear wool socks in the evening because it’s so freaking cold. Gotta love Finland.
