Moving from Gothenburg, Sweden 馃嚫馃嚜 to Vantaa, Finland, via Kajaani 馃嚝馃嚠
So, I have finally moved, applied close to 60 jobs in the past two months and husband has gotten his paperwork done. And what I mean by this is that he is officially a family member of this EU citizen in Finland. Yes, me.
Phew. It was a rollercoaster. Six-year rollercoaster, given that we met in March 2020 and we are finally in Finland as we were supposed to be, 6,5 years after.
So please, do not tell me how easy it is to just go to another country, you just marry a local and that's it.
That's definitely not it!
We are now in Vantaa, Finland. Last time I wrote, I had just arrived to Kajaani from the outskirts of Gothenburg, Sweden. I have not had time to do much. I sold my mothers apartment in Kajaani, Finland. We moved the second time in just two months. In total, I drove almost 10 000 km in just a couple or months:
Gothenburg, Sweden to Kajaani, Finland (to pick up trailer) 1429 km
Kajaani, Finland to Gothenburg, Sweden (with a trailer) 1429 km
Gothenburg, Finland to Kajaani, Sweden (with moving load & trailer) 1429 km
Twice Kajaani - Oulu - Kajaani (first my husband had to go give his thumbprint to the immigration and the second time we got our moving load) 364 km x 2 = 728 km
3 times back and forth in between Kajaani and Vantaa. 1094km x 3 = 3282 km
1 last trip from Kajaani to Vantaa, and we didn't return to Kajaani anymore. 1094 km
Total of moving trip: 9391 km.
Someone just brushed this off as "oh, it is normal to get tired when you move". Well, this is not "just normal". I have never had this hard time moving. We emptied our apartment in Gothenburg, Sweden and we emptied our storage in Oulu, Finland. Then we emptied my mothers storage in Kajaani, Finland, and we had both our stuff and my mothers stuff left in her apartment. And then we sorted, threw away and donated heaps, but there was still too much left! So what can we do, the date to hand over the keys to the new owner was arriving too fast. So we had to drive the distance to be able to pick our new keys, organise dates and moneys etc. The end result being the above list.
We still have unfinished boxes. There is umh ... 25 of them. I just counted. Most of them are in the corner on the balcony, so I can look past them and pretend they don't exist! 馃 It is really healthy, lol. But I have promised myself and husband, that we will get them sorted by Christmas.
For sure!
