Back in the day I was an electronic tech in the chairforce. One of the machines I worked on had....(wait for it)...vacuum tubes.
For those of you who might not be familar with the history of electronics it might come as a shock to learn that integrated circuits did not always exist.
No Maxine....integrate...in this instance...has nothing to do with black oppression.
To continue..before integrated circuits there were discrete components. Transistors, resistors....er.
No Maxine...resistors in this case, does not apply to 'occupy ICE'...
..where was I...oh yeah.
Resistors, capacitors, coils etc.
Before Transistors there were vacumn tubes.
They were called vacumn tubes because they had a vacumn in them.
Oddly enough vacumn tubes and the associated discrete components are pretty much immune to EMP.
I wonder how they'd work in space? No need for a glass enclosure around the fiddly bits.
all that vacumn...just sitting there..
