Hello everyone. I hope you are all doing well. I am writing a blog on Hive after quite some time because I wanted to share my thoughts on this topic. It is a topic that certainly warrants discussion; perhaps through such discussion, we can gain insight into how we are harming our society and the natural world.
I would like to talk about my country, as I am familiar with the conditions where I live. I witness daily events and feel disheartened by their consequences; for nearly a year now, sanitation workers deployed by the government have been cleaning various neighborhoods, villages, and roads on a daily basis. The government found it necessary to deploy these sanitation workers simply because people do not care about cleanliness. If people cleaned up their own trash, there would be no need for such measures.
In fact, a sanitation worker in my village recently cleaned the area in front of some shops and a shopkeeper immediately litter there again; when the worker asked why he had littered again, the shopkeeper retorted that it was the worker's duty to handle it鈥攁n attitude that is completely wrong.
Anyway, let us return to today's topic. If a person leaves their home carrying trash and throws it into a nearby flowing canal, onlookers will criticize them, and some might even pick a fight, indeed it's right. But if a large truck full of garbage suddenly arrives and dumps its entire load into the canal, no one will question where it came from or who threw it.
There is a canal right next to our village, and two or three factories are situated along it鈥攊ncluding one that manufactures 'ShaPosh' brand clothing. These factories discharge all their chemicals and toxic wastewater directly into the canal; this not only pollutes the water but also causes severe harm to the aquatic life within it. These chemicals are contaminating our village's water supply, and we also face breathing difficulties at night because the discharge outlets are mostly opened during those hours.
The sad thing is this that these factories have been here for years, yet no one can lodge a complaint against them because they continue to discharge toxic water into the canal by paying bribes. This is precisely why major companies and large factories are polluting our society so rapidly and openly.
The conclusion of this entire discussion is that within the country, every entity, company, and individual should enjoy equal rights and be subject to the same laws. A shortcoming on the part of the people, however, is that while they may fight against a single individual, they fail to stage a strike against a large factory.
Another thing I would like to say is that no country can progress until corruption is completely eliminated from that country. This is why large factories and mills dump their waste wherever they please, knowing that they can do whatever they want thanks to their power. I hope you will agree with my words.
