Scottish high temperature record denied – biased by auto exhaust from a car park

The weather station thermomenter was measuring the temperature of a truck's exhaust

• In case you don’t know, ice cream trucks have usually 2 or 3 aircons or chillers with heat exchangers, plus a generator. They are true “urban heat islands”.

Ouargla, Africa – Washington Post promotes another bogus “all time high” temperature record

• The Algerian Met Office doesn’t seem interested. In the case of Ouargla you’d think the Algerian Meteorological Office HQ in Algiers would at least have a mention of “probably the highest temperature ever reliably measured both in Algeria and in all of Africa.”…but, they don’t.

that is..the people who live there don't seem to think it's the least bit unusual. It's called summer in the Sahara.
Duh.

• the thermometer location is at an airport with a large military presence, right next to the tarmac.

So..not only does that 'hottest temp of all time' include Jet Plane exhaust..it is also that of hot black tar on a hot day in the summer in the desert.

Duh.

I parked my truck once in Phoenix in August...right square in the middle of a parking lot big enough to hold several hundred trucks. Black Pavement. No wind. Full mid day sun. All the trucks were idling so that they could run their A/C's.

I had a digital thermometer in my truck....
.............guess what it indicated.

One can only imagine what other methods the WaPo will report on that artificially boost the temp.
