Thank you to @theycallmedan and
@clivemartin for this great initiative.
I think in my last post on @HiveNaija community, when we wrote on an initiative titled Hive in the Society
I wrote a little about my testimony for the past 3 months since I have been consistent with Hive.
So I got to know about Hive from @Uyobong then called Steem, precisely March 2018, I joined it. But I was never interested in it because I felt it was all boring and I never understood anything about it. So I had no interest in it. I was a inconsistent blogger and was interacting in any way. I never understood the value that could be drawn blogging and everything he said sounded abstract and unreal to me.
I wasn’t a good writer and wondered what I could write to earn money. I found it difficult to write, which most times get me distressed.
I was an irregular member. Always blogging once in a blue moon. I was also working so most times, I felt tired and reluctant to do anything. I had no interest at all in participating and most times, I was pushed by @Uyobong to do something.
I struggled to make just one post and when my friends talked about what was going on, I just wasn’t concerned about it.
At that time, I was working a monthly job for a company and I was paid USD 26 monthly (10,000 Naira) to be precise. During the Month of march precisely when the Lockdown which was caused by Covid-19 happened, my house rent expired and was due for payment and it amounts to N36,000 and I had just my monthly allowance to rely on. The COVID 19 cause all business premises to be closed and pay weren’t coming. I didn’t know what to do because I didn’t want my landlord to come knocking at my door when I didn’t even have his money.
My electricity bill was also due and as the breadwinner, I was the only one taking care of the upkeep of my family.
I ran to @uyobong, who only advised me to come back to Hive if I was really in need of money. So during the period of COVID 19, every morning, I took my bath, dressed up, and went to
@uyobong house who gave me is a system to work on since I had no good gadgets to do the work.
I started putting more effort into blogging but at pint in time, I began to enjoy doing it. I was then advised to power down my Steem/Hive power which I did and by the end of the month, I was able to get the complete to pay my house rent. I was able to get a mini laptop with the help of the power down precisely 29 April, which I still use till today.
Right now, I am planning on getting a good phone with my Hive money. Over this month, my writing abilities have improved with my experiences so far and I can confidently take up a copy-writing job for a website.
Hive to me is now a full-time job and honestly speaking, I am happy I joined it because I am enjoying the interaction and the closeness happening in the community.
The initiatives happening in the communities, the interaction happening in discord group keeps me moving and loving Hive the more.
