It was International Women's Day yesterday and i am still basking in the euphoria of the celebration. I read myriads of posts about IWD and here i am lending my voice to what it means to be a woman.
Being a woman, some have attributed to weakness, frailty, voicelessness, passiveness, being a second fiddle. But is that what being a woman really is?
Being a woman is about scaling hurdles, surpassing expectations, soaring above set standards and breaking through the glass ceiling. Nothing compares to the strength of a woman. Many women have done valiantly amidst stifling competition with their male counterpart.
Womanhood is about enduring pains and putting smiles on the faces of others regardless of the pain we feel. Right from being a teenager, a girl endures the almighty monthly menstrual pain.
Some experience(d) this pain every month for years, but they didn't break under such excruciating pain. You drive pass them in traffic, you buy stuff from them at the market, you encounter them at your places of worship, malls, social gatherings, yet they mask their pains so well and still give you that smile that lights up your world.
I remember writing 2 of my WAEC papers under such a pain and despite that, i made a distinction and a credit respectively in the two exams. That's what being a woman is.
A woman births life and sometimes, lays down her own life to birth another. So painful 😖😖😖
We sustain life.
We make the world a beautiful place to live in.
A woman is a multiplier:
Give her love, she gives you peace.
Give her a seed (in form of sperm), she gives you a child.
Give her a house, she blesses you with a home.
Being a woman is about:
Selflessness
Love
Strength
Endless sacrifice
Survival
Multi-tasking
Beauty
Loyalty
Commitment
Royalty
Influence
Evolving
Elegance
Prudence
