The Current of Time
I wrote you a blank check years ago
Hoping that it might mean something
To you.
I have held back ever since you left,
In every casual conversation and love
Affair,
Like a handcuffed swimmer beating
Against the curerent of time's
Decay.
But my feelings have grown stale with
Old memories too often revisited,
And the check
Expired.
