Sometimes when you take a picture you can't imagine the final destination of the picture, nor what it will be used for at a given time.
It happened to me with this landscape of Araya in eastern Venezuela.
This photograph was taken on Sunday, December 7, 2008, that is to say, at the end of this year it will be twelve years old.
The place, as you can see, is very peaceful and the humidity of the sand invites you to walk barefoot on it.

I chose this photo because another story has recently emerged from it.
My mother, an 84-year-old woman, has decided at this point in her life that she wants to be a painter.
This fact fills me with joy because it motivates her and gives color to her days. Among the images she was looking for to capture on her canvas she chose my photograph from a decade ago.
In her own style, with her life experience and her vision of things, she painted what she felt.
The sand should have a redder color like Playa Colorada another beautiful beach in Venezuela.
It had to have more color to give joy and strength to the painting because according to her the picture is very sad.
That's how she described it and then I realized that there are a thousand ways to interpret and feel an image.
I began to imagine how an artist would have interpreted it and I remembered Vincent Van Gogh with his colorful and fantasy-filled style.
He had the necessary elements to dream a little.

Escogí esta foto porque a raíz de ella, hace poco ha surgido otra historia.
Mi madre una mujer de 84 años ha decidido en este momento de su vida que ella quiere ser pintora.
Este hecho me llena de alegría porque eso la motiva y le da color a sus días. Entre las imágenes que buscaba para plasmar en su lienzo escogió mi fotografía de hace una década atrás.
A su estilo, con su experiencia de vida y su visión de las cosas pintó así lo que sintió.
La arena debía tener un color más rojizo como Playa Colorada otra playa hermosa de Venezuela.
Debía tener más color para darle alegría y fuerza a la pintura porque según ella la fotografía es muy triste.
Así lo fue describiendo y entonces me di cuenta que hay mil formas de interpretar y sentir una imagen.
Comencé a imaginar de qué manera la hubiera interpretado un artista y recordé a Vicent Van Gogh con su estilo colorido y lleno de fantasía.
Tenía entonces los elementos necesarios para soñar un poco.

I was able to use the Sketch Artist application to turn the painting into a part of Van Gogh's starry night and then I wanted to go further and compare it with the original photograph.

Logré por medio de la aplicación Sketch Artist convertir la pintura en parte de la noche estrellada de Van Gogh y quise entonces ir más allá y compararla con la fotografía original.
