So during the holidays, I went to visit a friend who just returned from the states with her hubby for the holidays too so while the baby and the other family members were bonding I decided to help her unpack.
While we were unpacking I noticed she brought out 2 same toothbrushes, I hinted that hope she doesn鈥檛 have the same brush for her hair and her teeth, because she would obviously miss it one day and use them interchangeably.
She goes like
Oh No, the other toothbrush is for my husband
I was surprised, how will you know which is your brush? I asked
She said we use anyone we lay our hand on, it is no big deal
At this point I was shocked 馃槼, I didn鈥檛 want to tell her what I think about sharing a toothbrush with her husband beside it's something she was comfortable with but my head and mind couldn鈥檛 take it.
For me, it is all form of nasty even when a lot of people would argue that brushing with the same toothbrush is not so different from Kis**ng
Because over 58% of people according to a poll done online finds it super normal to share a brush.
It got me thinking, there are a lot of physical essentials couples share, some of which mAny have no problem with And same items can be seen as gross to others like
TOWELS
Maybe I am just a little too careful but I am not up for sharing any bathroom essentials except my soap and toothpaste. We may have shared towel once or twice especially in cases where our towels are in the laundry and we just have one spare available or when we travel together or book a hotel and we try to avoid using the hotel towel and I was the only one who remembered to park a towel then we share... at that point, it is better to use the towel you know, than using the general towel that probably a million people has used 馃槒.
Just saying
BED
couples could easily share a bed even when most couples rather have separate beds in separate rooms for whatever reason but for sharing and bonding sake, sharing a bed is not a bad option. I understand ladies rather have their space when it comes to their dressing area and closet that would be very much achieved without having separate beds entirely.
Ps. I am team separate bed馃槀
Well, it seems that the issue about sharing in a relationship boils down to whatever works for the couple, no matter how much advice one get, if it doesn鈥檛 work for you it would never work, the best anyone can do is try it out and if it isn鈥檛 convenient, find what works and life goes on.
But one major thing I would advise any couple to share is their PASSWORD. Especially passwords to Bank accounts, emails, and social media. I understand most relationships are still struggling with trust issues but if you can share a toothbrush, towel, and a bed why can't you share passwords with your partner.
Let's drop trust and the whole problem we know sharing passwords can cause and let imagine a different case of emergency, the other day my mum was giving me a story of how a wealthy man needed medical attention but he had to make a deposit first when his wife was asked for the money she didn't have that much to give and had no idea who to call, she needed to get into her husband bank account to make a transfer at least but she couldn't.
Luckily a Good Samaritan was willing to help with the promise of a refund once the man is well and able.
I understand that it can be hard to share details as important as passwords but it would be nice to find a common ground like I said, find something that works and move with it.
Let's take a quick poll on sharing toothbrushes with your partner if you are for the team there is no big deal about it, type YAY in the comments session and if you are for team Gross, type NAY
