I remember a few years back as a new graduate preparing for different job interviews and one of the most common questions I get from an online mock interview trial is
Where do you see yourself in 5 years
From what I was told, in answering this question it is important the answer aligns with the company goals and values too.i should give answers like;
“In 5 years I should have grown tremendously with this company as a team player and also as a person and would have contributed to the growth and development of the company”
Bla Bla Bla”
Good thing I was never asked the question in an interview I was invited for..but now seeing the question of the week
Where do you see yourself 5 years from now?
I knew it was high time I sat down, think about the question, and genuinely answer it. But to imagine what 5 years from now would look like, I have to understand how the last 5 years have been for me.
Let's look back in memory lane
5 years ago, in 2017 I was in my finals in the university, being the best student in my department and all I had in my head at that time was ensuring I keep up the good work with my education because it was my sure ticket to entering the cooperate world.
Picture of me 5 years ago as seen on my Facebook profile.
I just concluded my internship, with the 6-month experience with one of the best oil and gas companies at that time, I knew I wanted to be a corporate mogul or nothing else. I had a taste of the life and I was going for it
5 years ago I ate, slept, dreamt of working as a petroleum consultant with any top oil and gas firm and that was all that matters, no marriage in view, no baby in view I just wanted to work and earn cool money. I wanted a successful career for myself and I worked hard for it.
If you were to ask me this question 5 years ago of what I think my life would have been right now I am sure I would have said I would be killing it in my company, working my way in the cooperate ladder, and being the best in my field.
Well, 5 years later, here we are
I didn't get my dream job well I tried so hard, applied to lots of companies, tried to voluntary, but Covid happened and all my scheduled interviews and entry examinations were canceled ❌, while I was Waiting, I got married and had a child, and never got a callback. years have passed and I lost complete interest in the cooperate world, got some skills, and found hive.
😳this is the summary of my last 5 years
So 5 years from now, I really can't pretend that I know exactly how my life would turn out if the last 5 years has thought me anything is that there are lots of thing in life we cannot control but the best we can do is hope and dream.
But one thing I hope to still be relevant in my life is the CONSISTENCY.
Has Hive changed your prospects?
YES!!
Hive has changed a whole lot for me, Hive has given me a mindset revamp on money, investment, and most importantly consistency.
Who would have thought I would be able to write an article like this but consistency has made me better, showing up daily on hive keeps making me better.
Ps; I am already adding a content writer to my portfolio.
So one thing I would fight for to be constant in the next 5 years is my consistency, in whatever carers/business path life may drop at my feet and With my family, money, and investment plans.
I could go on and on about other things I would love to have and achieve 5 years from now but I am going to take it one day at a time, set realistic goals, make plans and be CONSISTENT.
I invite @reineesmay and
@wolfofnostreet to join the ladies of hive community and answer any of the questions for the week.
