Hola amigos Especiales!

Hello Special Friends!

I hope you are all well and that you are having a great time with your little ones. As usual, here I bring you some exercises with which we can work on motor skills in our children that have been very useful with my twins. Remember that regardless of whether or not you have autism, you can apply them with your little ones.

Today I want to start with a fine motor skills exercise, with which, besides feeling like they are having fun, children prepare their brains for writing. It's very easy and all you need is

1 sponge
1 tray
2 bowls (preferably of the same size)
Note: Fill the bowl on the left side with water

What to do?

Place the child in front of the tray with the two bowls previously placed on it. Remember to place the one filled with water on the left side. If the child is not yet familiar with the terms "left-right", this is a good time to point out that the full bowl is the one on his left hand and the empty one on his right.

If necessary, stand behind him and with your hand over his, point to the bowl on the left and have him repeat aloud with you (Left). Continue to do the same with your right hand. Now tell him to put the sponge in the bowl on the (left side) and soak it in the water and then squeeze it into the bowl on the right side. As he does this movement, you indicate him: (from LEFT to RIGHT) out loud, EVERY TIME HE DOES IT until all the water goes from one side to the other.

This exercise, as well as helping to reinforce laterality, will also help to strengthen the muscles in their little hands and we will also be preparing their brains for writing and reading, which are done from left to right.

Now it's time to continue with the GROSS MOTRICITY.

The following exercise is a game that we all know and that I particularly enjoyed when we did competitions at school.

The potato (egg) on the spoon :)

This activity reinforces balance, attention and manual control. You will need only two elements: a large spoon and a potato or small egg (if you decide to use an egg, you can boil it to avoid accidents. :))

How to proceed?

Mark a distance of a meter and a half on the floor and make your child see that he/she needs to go through it with the potato in the spoon, without dropping it, always making sure that he/she sees in this exercise, more than a challenge, a fun activity.

Place the spoon with the potato between his teeth and ask him to squeeze it so that it does not fall out. The first few times, tell him to do it very slowly and if he needs to, he can hold the potato until he is confident, one foot after the other, paying attention to the path and the potato so that it doesn't fall.

When you see that he is already confident, you can invite another child to make a small competition and thus add more fun to the activity.

To finish for today, we have The Balance Bar. This exercise will allow our children to continue strengthening their balance while walking. To complete this activity our child must maintain the maximum balance without help and without falling

What do you need?

A thick, smooth board, one and a half meters long by ten centimeters wide, two bricks and two cement blocks.

Procedure

We are going to start in a simple way (from less to more) You will place the board at floor level and start your. Make sure he sees you (talk to him while you walk on the board). After you do this about three times in a row, you will invite him to imitate you. If he needs to, take his hand and lead him from one end to the other.

When you feel confident in his steps, place the blocks, each in a corner of the board.

You help him up and start carrying him, and repeat the same action. You take him by the hand and this time you will remove the help little by little until he only holds on with one of your fingers (always stay at his side).

Remember that it will always be at his pace, if he does not succeed at the first moment, the first day of the exercise, encourage him and tell him that you will try again until he succeeds.

With each new learning remember that everything has its time under the sun and that if he did not succeed today, he tried and that counts as a victory.
