First, I have to say I’m little disappointed to my self that I haven’t been able to keep posting despite everything, but what can you do, there is only 24 hours in day! I’ve been organizing my life, and there is helluva a lot to organize!
Though I can’t complain, the anxiety is gone, and even if nothing else but the job isn’t certain I feel calm(ish) and happy. Change comes with a lot pain in the ass, necessary stuff you just have to deal with even if it isn’t funny nor enjoyable. Like getting apartment. Oh boy is the apartment hunting pain in the ass?
I thought I had somewhat modest expectations, some space, functional kitchen, bathroom which would fit washer…. Nothing that special. I was wrong. It is almost impossible to find clean, neat and functional studio. And when there is one, there is also 30other people to scout it too. This change of mine came the worst possible time there is. Why you might ask, I’ll tell you… All Finnish Universities announced the student selections at the same time I got the offer for the new job. So, there is thousands and then thousands newbie students scouting affordable studios too. And the competition is brutal.
Rental apartment market is like tinder at the moment. Functional studio is like hot gal who is picky as fuck, and we applying one are like desperate horny boys sweeping everyone to the right and hoping someone would match!
I got surprise day off from work and saw an opportunity to travel Helsinki and scout some apartments, and spend time with my friends and goddaughter. After doing all the necessities we head out to the beach to spend some quality time (read: my goddaughter was building sandcastles and me and her mom were sitting in the shadows and gossiping).
I’m glad to have friend like she is, because she lets me to move in until I can find place of my own. Though she said that it benefits also her because now she doesn’t have to talk with her neighbors and ask them to take care of her plans while she is gone. So, I have apartment for 3weeks! ”Plenty” of time to find my own….Maybe!
I still haven’t wrapped my head around everything, it is hard to understand that I’m going to leave my home next week and heading to unknown. And by the unknown I mean I am totally disoriented when it comes to moving from place to place in Helsinki. Keeping my eyes strictly on a map. Okay, I’m surprised that public transportation is somewhat logical in there, I had serious doubts about that.
And because Eve is going to heavily disagree on this anyway, lets say it was chaos! No logic what so ever! Happy now?
