Saturday was the day for this lovely, recurring event to take place once again. For me, this is the third year already and I'm not planning to break my habit of participating.
It is organized by a local biker's club and it is a charity event. The main scope is to collect presents from whoever is willing to donate and take these gifts to less fortunate children hosted by orphanages. Each year the event is announced in advance, kids are asked to review their toy collection and donate what they don't use anymore and would like other kids to have them, while adults are asked to contribute with the rest, like sweets, story books, colored pencils, fruits and so on.
Knowing the event takes place on Saturday, on the 13th, I had to have my pack ready, so I took out the plush toys I had for years, sitting in my drawer, bought sweets, notebooks, erasers, pencils and made two packs.
Seeing the two packs ready to be placed under the big tree in the city center made me happy. I like to give and when you think of those kids that don't have a home, a family and don't even know what it means to enjoy Christmas with family, makes me happy to know I can contribute a little, to make them happy for an hour or two.
When we arrived, the bikers were not there yet, so I was on the lookout to see where I can get a good spot to take some photos and was lucky as was standing next to the tree and these lovely Santas were all driving by me.
To give you an idea about the magnitude of the event, there were around 60 bikers, driving their own bike, each dressed in Santa clothes.
Yes, that's right, there was a Miss Santa as well, the only one on a bike.
Watching them drive by and parking their bikes in front of the Christmas tree was like watching a bike parade, but this was more.
Everyone was taking photos, making videos about the even, which is totally understandable as you don't see such thing every day.
Here's Miss Santa, she even decorated her bike, with red nose and horn, to look like Rudolph, the red nosed reindeer.
And this is where things got interesting. You see Santa, with his big stick (I don't know what it is called, if you do, let me know) and he was interacting with a little boy.
This is what they were all doing, giving out candies to kids.
Some had the candies in their helmet. It was really tempting as he had Roshen caramels (yummy), but I'm on a diet and besides, what kind of person would I be, if I'd take candies from kinds?
This guy was so funny in his reindeer suit. How can you not love these moments?

Finally, this is why we came here. After the bikers came in and everyone took photos of them, people started to place the presents in front of the tree.
It was really heartwarming to see so many presents donated.
And there it is, my two packs, on top of that big box.
For me, being there was a lot of fun, but it was a tough job as well, because taking photos of moving vehicles is not exactly easy. Plus the crowd was there too, but it doesn't matter.
The loveliest side of the event was seeing parents with small kids bringing presents. Teaching kids to donate, starting from a very young age is something all parents should do and here you could see plenty. Those kids got a valuable life lesson on Saturday.
So many of them took the occasion to sit on the bikes and have their photo taken by parents and grandparents.
After like 2 hours, the presents were loaded in these cars. The bikers left as there was another location at the other end of the city, where they did the same.
