¡Hola amigos lectores! Como no me puedo despegar del mundo de Heartstopper, hoy les traigo la reseña de Solitario de Alice Oseman.
Hello fellow readers! Since I can't tear myself away from the Heartstopper world, today I bring you the review of Solitaire by Alice Oseman.
Solitario es la historia de Victoria Spring, más conocida por todos como Tori, ella es la hermana mayor de Charlie de Heartstopper.
Solitaire is the story of Victoria Spring, better known to everyone as Tori, she is the older sister of Charlie from Heartstopper.
En esta historia contada en prosa conoceremos los pensamientos y sentimientos de este personaje tan particular. Si leyeron las novelas gráficas o vieron la serie, sabrán que Tori parece ser un personaje solitario, que se la pasa sola y da la sensación de que odia a todos y a todo. No estamos lejos de esto. Tori es ese personaje que parece alejar a las personas.
In this story told in prose we will get to know the thoughts and feelings of this very particular character. If you have read the graphic novels or watched the series, you will know that Tori seems to be a lonely character, who spends her time alone and gives the impression that she hates everyone and everything. We are not far from this. Tori is that character who seems to push people away.
En su historia veremos los fantasmas con los que tiene que lidiar mientras su vida parece tener un vuelco y su burbuja de confort se rompe al conocer a un chico nuevo llamado Michael Holden, con él genera un lazo de amistad particular y juntos intentarán investigar quién o quiénes son Solitario, una organización anónima que busca crear el caos en la escuela donde asisten y sus intenciones parecen ser peligrosas.
In her story we will see the ghosts she has to deal with while her life seems to have a turnaround and her bubble of comfort is broken when she meets a new boy named Michael Holden, with him she generates a particular bond of friendship and together they will try to investigate who or who are Solitaire, an anonymous organization that seeks to create chaos in the school where they attend and their intentions seem to be dangerous.

Lo primero que voy a decir es que este libro no era lo que me esperaba, pensé que iba a tratar de otras cosas, pero me equivoqué. Esto no significa que no me haya gustado, pero se sintió un poco oscuro y triste al lado de las emociones tan lindas que me hace sentir Heartstopper, pero esto no es Heartstopper y está bueno dejarlo claro también.
The first thing I'm going to say is that this book was not what I was expecting, I thought it was going to be about other things, but I was wrong. This doesn't mean I didn't like it, but it felt a bit dark and sad next to the cute emotions that Heartstopper makes me feel, but this isn't Heartstopper and it's good to make that clear as well.
Me gustó conocer la historia de Tori, es un personaje que me gusta bastante, aunque a veces se pasa con sus actitudes. Igual entiendo el punto, ella también necesitaba ayuda. Solo que no quería ser otra carga en la vida de sus padres y quería cuidar de Charlie y su pequeño hermano, pero no podes cargar el peso del mundo sola porque tarde o temprano te termina rompiendo.
I liked knowing Tori's story, she's a character I like a lot, although sometimes she goes too far with her attitudes. I still get the point, she needed help too. She just didn't want to be another burden in her parents' life and wanted to take care of Charlie and her little brother, but you can't carry the weight of the world alone because sooner or later it ends up breaking you.
Ahí entró Michael, fue extraña su aparición y el hecho de que lo dejara entrar a su vida tras un par de idas y vueltas, pero me gustó, me agrada Michael y puedo verlo a la perfección siendo parte del grupo. Él ayudo a Tori a abrir su corazón y a entenderse, los dos se apoyaron el uno al otro.
That's when Michael came in, it was strange his appearance and the fact that she let him into her life after a couple of comings and goings, but I liked him, I like Michael and I can see him perfectly being part of the group. He helped Tori open her heart and understand each other, they both supported each other.
La manera de escribir de esta autora es muy sencilla y eso hace que te devores el libro muy rápido, ya que no se nota lo mucho que avanzaste hasta que sucedió. Me gusta su forma clara de escribir y que va al punto. No teme decir lo que piensa y dejarlo plasmado en las actitudes de sus personajes.
This author's way of writing is very simple and that makes you devour the book very fast, since you don't notice how far you advanced until it happened. I like her clear way of writing and that she gets to the point. She is not afraid to say what she thinks and let it show in the attitudes of her characters.
Como les dije, este libro tiene tintes más oscuros, puedo verlo siendo gris. También hay pequeños destellos de misterios y bueno, te sumerge de lleno en la vida de una adolescente con síntomas de depresión. Así que con esto ya se imaginarán como viene la mano.
As I said, this book has darker overtones, I can see it being gray. There are also little glimpses of mysteries and well, it plunges you right into the life of a teenage girl with symptoms of depression. So with this you can imagine how the hand is coming.
¿Me gustó el libro? Sí, lo hizo.
¿Era lo que esperaba? La verdad que no, pero estoy contenta de haberlo leído.
¿Lo recomiendo? Solo si eres fan de Heartstopper y quieres seguir leyendo sobre este mundo y sus personajes.
De todos modos es un libro independiente, lo pueden leer incluso si no leyeron las novelas gráficas. Aunque se tocan varios temas referentes a Charlie. Así que les dejo la decisión a su criterio.
Did I like the book? Yes, you did.
Was it what I expected? Not really, but I'm glad I read it.
Do I recommend it? Only if you are a Heartstopper fan and want to keep reading about this world and its characters.
Anyway it's a standalone book, you can read it even if you didn't read the graphic novels. Although it touches on several themes concerning Charlie. So I leave the decision up to you.
