¡Hola amigos lectores! Volví a mi esencia que es leer alguna comedia romántica que me haga reír y renueven mis esperanzas en el amor, así que hoy les quiero compartir mi reseña acerca de La teoría del amor de la autora Ali Hazelwood.
Hello fellow readers! I'm back to my core which is to read some romantic comedy that makes me laugh and renew my hopes in love, so today I want to share with you my review of Love, Theoretically by author Ali Hazelwood.
La historia gira en torno a Elsie Hannaway, una física teórica que trabaja como profesora adjunta y tiene un segundo empleo que consiste en ser la novia falsa de sus clientes. Las esperanzas de conseguir un mejor empleo se consolidan cuando la llaman para cubrir un importante puesto de profesora titular, pero esta se esfuma cuando se entera que uno de los encargados de la selección es Jonathan Smith-Turned, un físico experimentalista que odia a los teóricos y que años atrás arruinó la carrera de su mentor. Pero esto no es todo, resulta que también es el hermano del hombre con el que está fingiendo salir y se invento toda una identidad falsa en torno a esto. Ahora Elsie deberá dar todo de sí y más para obtener ese empleo y poder hacerle la vida imposible a este experimentalista.
The story revolves around Elsie Hannaway, a theoretical physicist who works as an assistant professor and moonlights as a fake girlfriend to her clients. Hopes of getting a better job are cemented when she is called to fill an important tenured faculty position, but this is dashed when she learns that one of the recruiters is Jonathan Smith-Turned, an experimentalist physicist who hates theoreticians and who years earlier ruined his mentor's career. But that's not all, it turns out he's also the brother of the man she's pretending to date and made up a whole fake identity around this. Now Elsie will have to give her all and more to get that job and make life impossible for this experimentalist.
Este es el segundo libro que leí de Ali, el primero fue La hipótesis del amor que sigue más o menos la misma línea de mujeres científicas tratando de ganarse su lugar en estos campos llenos de hombres. Ese libro me lo devoré y este otro no fue la excepción, estoy para leer todo lo que escriba la autora porque no sé cómo lo hace, pero terminó completamente atrapada con sus historias. Aparte, me gusta esto de que nos hable de los abusos de poder en las diferentes ramas de la ciencia y como hace notar la voz de las mujeres que luchan cada día por demostrar que son tan capaces de tener una carrera brillante como los científicos hombres. Así que la aplaudo de pie.
This is the second book I read by Ali, the first one was The Love Hypothesis which follows more or less the same line of women scientists trying to earn their place in these fields full of men. That book I devoured and this one was no exception, I am to read everything the author writes because I don't know how she does it, but ended up completely caught up with her stories. Besides, I like the fact that she talks about the abuses of power in the different branches of science and how she makes the voice of women who struggle every day to prove that they are as capable of having a brilliant career as male scientists. So I give her a standing ovation.
Ahora, volviendo al libro, sí puede dar la impresión de que las historias son un poco parecidas, pero igual no me quejo porque me encantan. Me gusta la dinámica que crea en las relaciones de los personajes, además de que sus libros son muy divertidos de leer. En este caso me divertí un montón con los pensamientos y las contestaciones de Elsie. Me quiero detener en ella porque también me saco un poco de quicio en más de una ocasión por su manera de ser tan complaciente, y me puso peor al darme cuenta que yo también tiendo a ser igual de complaciente por momentos y suelo poner el bienestar de otra persona antes que el mío. Pero bueno, por suerte ya no soy tan así, estoy aprendiendo sobre la marcha.
Now, going back to the book, yes it can give the impression that the stories are a bit similar, but I'm not complaining because I love them. I like the dynamic that she creates in the relationships of the characters, plus her books are a lot of fun to read. In this case I had a lot of fun with Elsie's thoughts and answers. I want to dwell on her because she also got on my nerves a bit on more than one occasion because of her pandering ways, and it made me worse when I realized that I tend to be just as pandering at times and tend to put someone else's well being before my own. But hey, luckily I'm not that way anymore, I'm learning as I go along.
El romance que nos da el libro es todo lo que está bien, algo tranquilo, pero intenso. Me gusta esto de que él se haya enamorado primero, pero aún así la espero y la respeto en todo momento, sin forzar nada y haciéndole entender que con él no hacía falta que fuera otra Elsie, con ser ella misma era suficiente. Que bonito el amor sano 💕.
The romance we get in the book is everything right, kind of quiet, but intense. I like this about him falling in love first, but still waiting for her and respecting her throughout, not forcing anything and making her understand that with him she didn't need to be another Elsie, just being herself was enough. How beautiful healthy love is 💕.
De lo único que puedo quejarme, que también me queje de esto en el otro libro suyo que leí, es que no me gusta como escribe las escenas spicy. Pero de todos modos, me gustó mucho más que el anterior y esto no es un problema real, es solo yo buscándole el pelo al gato jajaja. Adoré el libro, me hizo reír y emocionar, y suspirar un montón. Ahora quiero leer todo lo que escriba esta mujer con sus escenas de sexo cringe y todo. Es una lectura super recomendable si les gustan este tipo de libros.
The only thing I can complain about, which I also complained about this in the other book of hers I read, is that I don't like how she writes the spicy scenes. But anyway, I liked it a lot more than the previous one and this is not a real problem, it's just me looking for the cat's hair hahaha. I adored the book, it made me laugh and emote and sigh a lot. Now I want to read everything this woman writes with her cringe sex scenes and all. It's a super recommended read if you like this kind of books.
