¡Hola amigos lectores!
Hello reader friends! Remember a few weeks ago I shared with you the review of a book called Senda sangrienta? Well, today I bring you my opinion about the second book titled Cónclave carmesí by author Hernán Montenegro.
In this second part, 2 years have passed since the events of the first book. Robert Vorgrimler is now ready to face the 3 tests that await him to stop being an initiated vampire and to be able to enjoy his immortality without being under the wing of his master, Magnus. But nothing is so simple because Robert proved many times that he is not an ordinary initiate and that through his veins runs a very powerful blood motivated by his desire to survive and prove his worth. Each test he faces will be much more dangerous than the previous one and along the way he will reap both friends and enemies who will be ready to destroy him. Now he must face some vampire deserters who are spreading a virus that kills his kind instantly. Nobody said immortality would be easy and boring.
I think I could see an important growth in this second book, the writer's improvement in terms of plot, descriptions and character development is noticeable. In the first one everything was very rushed, with several action scenes and some grotesque scenes that could be shocking. Here there was more patience, constancy and maturity, as if our character, Robert, had also adapted to his new condition and was taking things more calmly.
Of course it is still a story full of action and tense moments. I love the atmosphere the book conveys and it is very entertaining to read. Although I did find it a little slower than the previous one, but I celebrated because this one brings many more pages and content that enriches the story.
I liked the addition of the new characters, some quite intriguing and not sure what to expect from them. One of my favorites was Freys, a very good vampire, I would like to see more of her in future books, and what she will bring back to Vorgrimler's life. And the whole vampire political system is super interesting to me, I already want to keep exploring this world and what it has to offer.
I'm sure there will be more books, but now we just have to wait for them to be written because this one only came out in January, so it will be a while to find out how Robert Vorgrimler's life goes on in his new mission as a bodyguard of a very old and powerful vampire. You know, if you like old-fashioned vampire stories with a plot full of political intrigue and action, I highly recommend it.
